Apple Store App Now Optimized for iPhone 5

Apple optimized the Apple Store app for the iPhone 5 over the weekend. The new version now utilizes the full 4 inches of the iPhone 5's screen, consequently taking advantage of the 16:9 aspect ratio.

While the device's taller screen has received praise, apps not yet optimized for the iPhone 5 appear in the older 3.5-inch format through a 4:3 aspect ratio. Such apps running on the iPhone 5 features black bars on the top and bottom of the screen.

The Apple Store app gives mobile users the opportunity to purchase products such as iPhones, iPads, Macs, as well as a batch of accessories. In addition, consumers can purchase items through the app and have it sent to their home or to their nearest Apple retail store for pickup.

  • So they released the phone without even updating their own appstore to use the extra screen space? Has Apple released anything recently that wasn't half finished?

  • Well, I saw that coming a mile away. You'll get black bars with all the old apps. Bit problematic, don't you think?
