iPhone Flashmob Aims to Cripple AT&T Network
A flashmob that doesn't require you to fold up your snuggie and leave the house.
Alright AT&T customers, it's the moment of truth: How unhappy are you with your service? If you answered, "Unhappy enough to do something spiteful," then you're the perfect candidate for Operation: Chokehold.
Announce on the Secret Diary of Steve Jobs, the mission is to take AT&T down in an effort to "teach the network a lesson." The idea is to basically have everyone on AT&T load up a data-munching application and leave it running for a whole hour, clogging up the network.
Subject: Operation Chokehold
On Friday, December 18, at noon Pacific time, we will attempt to overwhelm the AT&T data network and bring it to its knees. The goal is to have every iPhone user (or as many as we can) turn on a data intensive app and run that app for one solid hour. Send the message to AT&T that we are sick of their substandard network and sick of their abusive comments. THe idea is we’ll create a digital flash mob. We’re calling it in Operation Chokehold. Join us and speak truth to power!
Living far, far, far, away from AT&T, I do not have any plans to take part. Do you? Let us know in the comments below!

WTF.... How're we supposed to read the damned Article if there is no Article to read?
WTF.... How're we supposed to read the damned Article if there is no Article to read?
See, now you are just being picky.
. . .anything that cripples AT&T is good. . .so we'll just have to wait for the article to appear. I'm tired of AT&T (and others) crippling features on phones they offer (e.g., WiFi on various phones). It's about time someone crippled AT&T, IMNSHO.
It's not always about you Renegade_Warrior! Articles with no content have feelings too!
Yeah what's going on guys? Need some articles to read, not just headlines
is this some how related to the last artical?

Maybe someone's Apple turned to Mush this morning?
Article title (at the time of comment): "A flashmob that doesn't require you to fold up your snuggie and leave the house."
Rest of article (at the time of comment): "< "
Flashmob not only crippled AT&T's data network, it also crippled THG's ability to write a complete article, not to mention a title that makes sense....
The article is probably still on its way from AT&T. It will be here before Christmas.
cool story bro.
It was sent over the 3G pipeline, should be uploaded any minute.........
does AT&T even need help to "cripple" its network?
it's already crippled as is....anymore and it'll have to be shot to put out of its misery....
LOL - that was the shortest news article I've seen yet.
.
Appropriately enough, the length matches my attention span
Oh Nooooo........

a Mob of stoned college kids heard the old song The Streak by Ray Stevens and decided to go Streaking, Flashing everyone!
the headline is all you need. you must be a part of the iturd cult to \/iew the article... just use your iturd and it will appear. :-p
Well, everyone was complaining about the spelling errors and such. They probably just figured they wouldn't make any more mistakes this way.
I'm real happy for you and imma let you finish, but japan have some of the best flashmobs of all time!
I thought the last article about tinyURL was a joke... hmmmm
i hope these people succeed in their plan to cripple the network. i will be cracking up when that happens.

flashmob? don't they mean flashbomb?
people will do anything to bring AT&T down to force apple to go to another carrier
Something's gone wrong! Call 911-tom-hwre!
Operation Chokehold
Aims to bring the network (AT&T)to it's knees by having as many as possible iphone users use heavy data task at a certain time. The all have unlimited data plans right?
maybe Jane was trying to submit this article via iphone app?
really? if apple has a bit torrent app then that's a good place to start LOL
All puerile attempts at humour aside, AT&T has customers that are relying on their service. This kind of attack hurts regular folks a lot more than it hurts AT&T.
Best article I've read at Tom's in quite awhile
Jane, I can't wait to read your engrossing article.
next... ;-)
probably self censored because of typos... ok that was a joke
