Not too long ago, I was reflecting on the running shoes that have defined my training this year, and the Hoka Speedgoat 6 made it into my top three. It’s a versatile trail running shoe that can also double as a hiking shoe, and thanks to Hoka’s early Black Friday sale, the Speedgoat 6 is on offer right now.

If, like me, you enjoy both road and trail running, you’ll know it can be expensive to kit yourself out for both. That’s why sale periods at your favorite brands are such a welcome opportunity, hence my excitement when I spotted this Hoka deal, which drops the Speedgoat 6 from $155 to $123. Having tested the shoe, I think it’s worth the full retail price, so getting it for 20% less is a real bonus.

The women’s Hoka Speedgoat 6 in the Gull / Stormy Skies colorway is down to $123 in Hoka’s early Black Friday sale. Designed for rocky and uneven ground, it delivers soft cushioning and confident grip thanks to its Vibram Megagrip outsole. Sizes tend to disappear quickly in Hoka sales, so I wouldn’t hang about if you want to nab a pair.

My local running routes are steep, uneven, and often soaked by unpredictable weather, so I need a trail shoe that grips well, moves naturally, and stays comfortable mile after mile. The Hoka Speedgoat 6 ticks every box.

I’ve trained for a trail half marathon in this shoe and even wore it to take on a Spartan race in Croatia, which mixes trail running, swimming, and climbing over large and awkward obstacles. I was never more grateful for my choice of footwear. The Speedgoat 6 handled rocky sections with ease, kept me steady as I hauled myself over walls, and drained and dried quickly after the swimming segments.

Most people won’t be shopping for a shoe to wear in a Spartan race, but that experience proved to me just how versatile and capable this shoe is when things get tough. Even if you’re not a runner and simply want a sturdy, low-cut hiking shoe, I’d still highly recommend the Hoka Speedgoat 6.
