Wahlberg confirmed in an interview with MTV that he would be tackling the role of Nathan Drake in the film adaptation of the hit PS3 game series, Uncharted.

In 2008, Wahlberg starred in the film adaptation of Max Payne, which was critically hammered to a 16% on Rotten Tomatoes. Granted, we probably won't ever see a top-notch video game adaptation that will be loved by everybody since the industry is polluted with disappointments and failures *cough* BloodRayne *cough*

Wahlberg said that the director of the Uncharted film, David O. Russell has begun writing the script and hopes to begin shooting next year.

“David is one of the best writer/directors I’ve ever worked with,” Wahlberg added. “The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.”

Wahlberg also mentioned that they have been in talks with Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro about possibly playing the roles of Drake's uncle and father.

Will this be another bust for Wahlberg? Or will this film do this award winning game series justice? Let us know what you think.
