Tom's Guide Verdict
Felix Mobile keeps things cheap and straightforward, offering big‑value SIM‑only plans, though it doesn't offer quite as many bells and whistles as the major telcos. It runs on Vodafone’s 4G/5G network, which is solid in metro areas but a little patchier once you head into more remote regions, and its online‑only support may bug those who'd prefer to speak to a real person. That said, if you just want an affordable, no‑fuss plan, Felix is a great fit, though speed‑hungry users and frequent travellers might find it a bit limiting.

Why you can trust Tom's Guide
Felix Mobile is one of Australia’s most affordable telcos, offering SIM-only plans that provide more data than you'd expect for their cost – and there's even an unlimited data plan, albeit with a 40Mbps speed cap. Felix's simplicity is a major part of its appeal, especially compared with the more complex and expensive offerings from Telstra, Optus and Vodafone.
Price is where Felix most clearly undercuts the big three. Like many other mobile virtual network operators (or MVNOs), Felix keeps costs low by capping speeds and avoiding premium extras. For everyday browsing, streaming and social media use, most Aussies will probably find its value hard to beat.
Felix operates on Vodafone’s 4G/5G network, which performs reliably in metro and suburban areas. However, users who reside in Australia's especially remote regions may experience weaker signals (or sometimes no service at all) despite Vodafone's recently expanded reach, courtesy of a network-sharing agreement with Optus.
Customer service feedback for Felix ranges from mixed to positive, though it's worth noting that the telco operates entirely online, which means dealing with automated chatbots in most situations, and no option to speak to someone on the phone.
In many ways, Felix's simplicity can be considered both a strength and a weakness. Its simple plans, affordable price points and carbon‑neutral positioning could be very appealing for environmentally minded users. However, the lack of high‑speed data, roaming value or premium extras will probably turn off heavy users or frequent travellers.
In short, Felix Mobile is a strong fit for Aussies who want low‑cost unlimited data and live in areas with solid Vodafone coverage. That said, it’s probably not ideal for speed‑hungry users, especially if they live in remote areas. Still, for metro customers prioritising affordability over premium performance, it remains one of the most compelling budget options.
Felix Mobile plans and pricing
- Affordable pricing
- 50% off introductory offer
- Unlimited data plan
In keeping with its ethos of simplicity, Felix Mobile offers just three SIM-only plans, all charged on a per-month cycle. The first is its 25GB Mobile Plan, which is priced at AU$25 p/m (that's AU$1 per GB), followed by its 50GB Mobile Plan, which is far better value at AU$30 p/m (just AU$0.60 per GB).
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
Of course, the Felix Mobile plan that's grabbed the highest number of headlines is surely the Unlimited Mobile Plan, which is priced at AU$40 p/m and has no set data allowance, but comes with a significant caveat: download speeds are capped at just 40Mbps.
The result is an Unlimited Mobile Plan that's over three times slower than Felix's 25GB and 30GB Mobile Plans, which are both capped at 150Mbps. In other words, users will have to decide whether excess data charges are more of a concern than slowed download speeds.
Felix Mobile coverage
- Access to Vodafone's expanded network
- Still behind the Telstra network in regional Australia
Since Vodafone's parent company and Optus began their network-sharing deal in February 2025, the Vodafone network, which Felix uses, has greatly expanded its coverage, improving its reach significantly in regional Australia.
Previously reaching 96% of Australia’s metropolitan population (note the wording used), this network-sharing agreement means that its coverage has now surged by 150%, expanding from 400,000 to over 1,000,000 square kilometres. This boost puts Felix Mobile’s reach at 98.4% of the entire Australian population, just a hair behind Optus at 98.5%.
Even though Felix Mobile's regional coverage is comparable to Optus and Vodafone, it still falls short of Telstra’s reach in Australia’s more remote areas. It’s also worth noting that Vodafone’s 5G rollout has been slower than that of Optus and Telstra. That means you should expect to be on 4G most of the time when you're outside of a major city.
Felix Mobile plans: Extras, perks and offers
- Unlimited calls and text included
- Unlimited data banking
- Trees!
As you'll no doubt have noticed by now, Felix Mobile keeps costs down by doing away with the bells and whistles offered by some of the larger Aussie telcos. Because of this, you shouldn't expect too many extras or perks.
That said, all of Felix’s mobile plans include unlimited talk and text within Australia as standard, and the 25GB and 50GB plans even come with unlimited data banking (naturally, there’s no need for it on the Unlimited plan).
Of course, the biggest (and most unique) perk that comes with being a Felix Mobile customer is one that won't necessarily impact your plan but will absolutely impact our planet — for every month that you stay connected to Felix Mobile, the telco will plant a tree in your honour, which is honestly a brilliant incentive to make the switch.
Felix Mobile plans: customer service and community reviews
- Overwhelmingly negative online user reviews
- Offshore call centres
Felix Mobile has earned fairly positive reviews on Product Review, with an overall score of 3.3 stars out of 5. Users on this site are typically pleased with their Felix Mobile experiences, though several reviews note frustrating customer service interactions and resolved technical issues as their main grievances.
However, user reviews are far more negative on Trustpilot, where the telco scored a dismal 1.7 stars out of 5. Complaints here are mostly linked to coverage quality, customer service and number transfers.
Felix Mobile plans: Bottom line
There's no doubt that Felix Mobile delivers impressive value for money, pairing low‑cost SIM‑only plans with a refreshingly simple approach that outperforms many bigger telcos on price alone. Its unlimited data option, even with a 40Mbps speed cap, will suit everyday users who mainly browse, stream and message, provided they live in areas with strong Vodafone coverage. That said, the online‑only support model and reliance on chatbots won’t suit everyone.
Environmentally minded users and budget‑focused metro customers will appreciate Felix's carbon‑neutral stance and straightforward plans, while heavy data users and those in remote regions may find its speed caps and network reach a touch too restrictive.
