The holidays are around the corner, the to-do lists are getting longer and the idea of taking a break with the new movies and TV shows to watch this weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and other streaming services has never sounded better.

Consider this your permission slip to ignore the noise for a few hours. On TV, “Fallout” season 2 hits the road to New Vegas, while “Emily in Paris” season 5 keeps things light, glossy and blissfully escapist.

On the movie side, the pulse-pounding spectacle of “The Running Man” and the crowd-pleasing sleight of hand of “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t" are available with a premium video-on-demand purchase. Here's our guide on what to watch this weekend.

“Fallout” season 2 drops you straight back into the radioactive deep end, refusing to ease up after last season’s wreckage. Lucy (Ella Purnell), the Ghoul (Walton Goggins) and Maximus (Aaron Moten) head across the Mojave toward New Vegas, a city that still glitters ... if you don’t look too closely at what’s lurking beneath the shine.

It’s a pressure cooker of rival factions, opportunists and people who know way too much about Vault-Tec’s buried sins. Maximus finds himself tangled in deeper Brotherhood trouble, Lucy keeps pulling at the thread of her father’s secrets, and the Ghoul moves through the wasteland with the confidence of someone who’s survived every bad idea so far.

Ciao, bella. In season 5 of the glossy rom-com, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) trades Parisian bridges for sun-soaked Roman piazzas. Installed at the helm of Agence Grateau Rome, she’s juggling clients, falling deeper for the charming Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), and guarding a secret that could fracture one of her closest friendships.

Back in Paris, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) must reckon with letting Emily slip away. Expect romantic confusion, fearless fashion and a steady parade of pasta as Emily leans fully into la dolce vita. New city, same style moments, more drama.

The second season of this surprise-hit cooking competition jumps straight back into the fire. The White Spoon elites — Michelin-star darlings, culinary legends and seasoned pros — return expecting to hold the upper hand. But the Black Spoon challengers charge in with confidence and aliases like “Three Star Killer” and “Wok Rider,” making it clear they’re not here to play nice.

New twists, blind tastings and the unexpected return of two masked chefs hungry for a second shot push the tension higher. With egos simmering, knives out and reputations on the line, the stakes feel even hotter, especially with 300 million won up for grabs.

‘The Running Man’ (PVOD)

Watch On

This sci-fi action-thriller remake is getting its second shot at glory with its digital release, which feels right for a movie obsessed with comebacks, ratings and survival. Edgar Wright turns Stephen King’s vicious game-show premise into a breathless sprint, with Glen Powell as Ben Richards, a broke, furious dad who agrees to be hunted on live TV to pay for his daughter’s medical care.

Powell’s scrappy charm does a lot of the heavy lifting, while Josh Brolin is clearly having a blast as the smiling shark-like producer pulling the strings. The movie rarely slows down long enough to overthink itself, and the result is messy, loud and sometimes unnervingly timely.

The “Now You See Me” movies have always been gloriously dumb fun, and the third entry leans into that with a grin. A decade after their last vanishing act, the Four Horsemen (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco and Isla Fisher) pop back up to steal a truly absurdly large diamond.

There’s bickering, double-crossing, fake-outs on fake-outs, and a welcome injection of new blood (Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, Ariana Greenblatt). Best of all: Rosamund Pike, hamming it up as a glamorous crime boss. Is it nonsense? Absolutely. Is it a good time? That’s the trick — it really is.

Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi’s Palme d’Or–winning film looks like a modest thriller but slowly becomes something more unsettling. Drawn from Panahi’s own experiences as a former political prisoner, the film follows a small group of Iranians who believe they’ve crossed paths with the man who once tortured them and must decide what justice actually looks like.

Dryly funny, quietly tense and emotionally bruising, “It Was Just an Accident” belies its name in its exact, precise storytelling. It’s a movie that hits you hard in the gut and stays there. Expect it to vie for the Best International Film Oscar and quite probably Best Picture, too.

‘Relay’ (Netflix)

“Relay” is a quiet little pressure cooker of a thriller, the kind that builds dread through logistics, rules and bad decisions rather than explosions. Riz Ahmed plays a fixer who brokers off-the-books deals between corporations and potential whistleblowers.

He keeps his identity hidden by using a relay phone service, where typed messages are read aloud by an operator. It’s a clever workaround in an age of constant surveillance. But when Lily James’ frightened insider needs help staying alive, that carefully controlled system starts to crack.
