11 back to school laptop deals — get up to 42% off MacBooks, Dell, Chromebooks and more
Here's how to get the best value laptops
Getting ready for back to school? Laptop prices are dropping across the web, so now's your opportunity to upgrade your device. Prices of PC components are soaring these days, so I've made sure to weed out the bad deals and share the discounts that are actually good value.
The place I'd head to first is the Apple Education Store. The MacBook Air M5 and the MacBook Neo take the first and second spots on our list of the best laptops, with the MacBook Neo being the best value laptop we've ever reviewed — the portability, performance and long battery life make it especially great for students.
Sadly, a bunch of Apple products just got price hikes, including the new MacBooks. But with the education discount, the MacBook Neo's price drops back down to where it was before at $599.
There are lots more deals out there, so keep scrolling to see my favorites. (For students, I also recommend signing up for a free 6-month Prime for young adults subscription to save on shipping for school essentials and cashback on select products.)

Simply put, this is one of the best 2-in-1 laptops you can buy! We gave the smaller version of this device an excellent 4-star rating in our Acer Chromebook Spin 514 review, because it performs well in pretty much every category — it runs fast, it has long battery life and it's got a gorgeous display. Sure, it's one of the more expensive Chromebooks out there, but at a discount it's a great buy. You get a 14-inch 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) touchscreen display, Core Ultra 5-115U CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB UFS storage.

For a Chromebook, the Asus CX34 is pretty dang powerful, and that’s mostly due to its Intel Core i5-1335U processor. It also has a 14-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel display, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of UFS storage, which is faster than eMMC storage.
