Alienware has a slight CPU clock speed advantage over Eurocom in the configurations we received (Eurocom optionally offers faster processors), so it’s no surprise that Alienware wins the CPU-bound Lame and OGG encoding benchmarks.

Video

DivX and XviD benchmarks rely on Mogen, but the version we used apparently isn’t Windows Vista compatible.

Applications

3D Studio Max is yet another CPU-bound application, but one that benefits less from Alienware’s slightly-faster included processor. Perhaps Eurocom’s faster CPU FSB is compensating?
