3. First Look At The Mitsubishi HC2000

Everyone knows the Mitsubishi brand. This Japanese OEM giant makes automobiles, air conditioners, telephones, storage solutions, elevators and electronics gear. While it's true that a lot of its business is professionally oriented, Mitsubishi also offers product lines aimed at the consumer marker, and that includes DLP video projectors. The current Home Theater line comprises three products priced at $1,000 to $4,500. The HC 2000, the model we'll be looking at today, is at the top of pile. This model's ultimate purpose, according to the manufacturer, is to "deploy an extraordinary visual experience capable of rivaling tri-tube projectors."
Looks And Handling

The HC 2000 weighs in at close to 17 lbs. (8 kilos) and measures 16.9" (43 cm) wide by 12.2" (31 cm) deep. In other words, this is not a model intended for taking to friends' apartments or keeping on your coffee table. You'll need to install it on the ceiling or on a shelf at the back of your screening room. Its restrained anthracite-gray shell is a far cry from the visual exuberance of some competing products. Most functions are accessible via the menu buttons located on the top of the unit or via the backlit remote control. Incidentally, the latter might have been a little more luxurious given the $4,500 it costs to take the HC 2000 home with you.
