29. Sony MFM-HT95

Not long ago we tested the Sony MFM-HT75. We liked the concept of a monitor/TV set combination, especially since it was cleverly done. When a 19" version was announced, we naturally wanted to test it. But can you trust a family resemblance?

Design
As always with Sony, it's strictly the Ritz. The quality of this monitor's aluminum bodywork is remarkable. The overall effect, though, lacks a little finesse, especially because of the massive speaker bar that runs across the lower part of the panel. Still the Sony panel is set into an elegant curve that won't tarnish the brand's image.
Ergonomics
The same goes for the ergonomics. While the screen has only a tilt adjustment, the IT-based OSD is practical and the little remote control that comes with the unit is a nice plus.
Connectivity
Sony has taken the concept of integrating a TV and a monitor seriously, and the connectivity is up to the challenge. In addition to standard VGA and DVI, there are cinch video, S-Video and YUV connectors, with the corresponding audio inputs. For once, the speakers are of exceptional quality, especially in the bass, where the reproduction is very lifelike.
