Nexus One Running Android 2.2 is 450% Faster
Froyo is out there and it's fast.
Google has a habit of giving future versions really tasty sounding codenames. Be it Cupcake, Éclair or Froyo, they all sound delicious. However, Froyo (that’s Android 2.2) is sounding more and more delicious by the day because when it hits my Nexus One, Android will be 450 percent faster than it is now.
The guys over at Android Police have Froyo running on a Nexus One and boy, is it a bump in speed over Android 2.1. The lads played around with it and ran some tests using Linpack, which tests the performance of Android's Dalvik VM, the brains of Android. According to their results, while a HTC Hero (Android 1.6) scored about 2 MFLOPs and their Nexus One running 2.1 clocked between 6.5 and 7 MFLOPs, Android 2.2, or Froyo, rang in at 37.5. Yowza!
Nexus If you're looking for videos, you'll have to sit tight for hands-on clips from Android Police. However, if you're really, really desperate to see Froyo running, you can check out this video from Ryan Stewert, an evangelist for Adobe. Stewert is demonstrating Flash in this video but it's hard to ignore the fact that the version of Android on his Nexus One is decidedly nicer that mine. Check out the video below and see for yourself.

That rocks!
Soon, we'll have to question the validity of purchasing an iphone/itouch outside of fashion reasons.
Oh wait, we're already doing that.
don't know what nexus and android is,... sorry
don't know what nexus and android is,... sorry
Nexus = Google's Smartphone
Android = Google's Smarphone OS
I am pretty sure Obama doesn't know either...
I so want a Nexus One...
Maybe I should be like Apple and sue every other developer and manufacturer out there... and make money that way..

It hasn't even been worth questioning since the Motorola Droid came out. Want a smart phone powerhouse? Droid does.
The article doesn't mention this, but the huge boost to performance is due to them adding a JIT(Just In Time) compiler to the Dalvik virtual machine. So if you thought your apps ran fast before, just wait until they are running with JIT.
Great. Soon it may be able to play Crysis.
I was interested in the Nexus One when it was rumoured to be cheap.
The video played like dog feces. But, everything else looks sweet!!!
Forget the Nexus one, I want an Incredible! Same phone more polished with an 8mp camera! Can any Android phone be updated to 2.2?

LOL. Seriously? Fanboys are funny (and illogical.)
There is only one phone I'd rather have than an iPhone 3G S. The Incredible.

Megapixels do not a great camera make.
My ancient Olympus 1.3 MP digital camera still takes better pictures than any phone camera I have ever seen.

Spelling also doesn't "ur opinion, stronger"... see wht i did there... ZING.
Take that iphone!

I see that you failed to point out his poetic grammar by using a comparative ("stronger") instead of a verb.
I'd like to see how my Incredible does running 2.2. The thing is already lightning quick.

Haha, this is quite an ironic statement...
I just hope it doesnt explode from all that power. The iphone had its fare share of em'.
Well, good for android.
But, linpack for...android? O_o
Fantastic!!! Will Android 2.2 run on Desire also?
Why couldn't they just release the Nexus One for Verizon D: I'm stuck with the HTC Droid ERIS--nice phone, but not the Nexus One.
I really hope they upgrade the Moto CLiq OS version soon.
cool the eco zoo

That's most likely because its lens is WAY bigger than any of those 1.3 MP cell cameras.
Are you German? Your word order was peculiar... not to say that being German is bad--I am just curious because German kicks extra verbs to the end like you did with "make". Either that or you're bringing middle English back in style
I'm curious how many flops the iphone can do?
looks a bit laggy somehow..
The iphone flops any time an unbiased reviewer looks at it....

thumbs up for making my day LOL
skatt3rbrain : That's a fairly common turn of phrase style.
My question is: is this phone a good phone? I always laugh when reviewers describe the awesomeness of the iphone, then throw in the caveat that the "phone" part isn't very good.

Many as a dying fish can
