MSI Announces EeePC Competitor

Micro-Star International (MSI) has announced its Wind series notebooks, the company’s contender to compete with low-cost PCs such as Asustek Computer’s Eee PC. The Wind will come with either an 8.9-inch or 10-inch display option featuring LED backlight technology and a resolution of 1024x600.
We looked at HP’s MiniNote UMPC today, which competes directly with the Eee PC. Both devices offer small form factors and good battery performance. Even still, smaller handhelds such as mobile Internet devices (MIDs) are starting to appear. Despite the increase in demand for smaller devices, the slump in the IT market is affecting overall time to market for most new devices. Both Intel and AMD are going through rough times financially — especially AMD.
