6. Creative Labs Zen PMC: More Heft, More Performance

Creative has chosen not to miniaturize to the extreme. The hard disk has a 20 GB capacity, while the screen measures 3.8 inches (almost 10 cm). Though it may not seem like it would, that extra centimeter changes everything. In addition, the colors are brighter and the definition is just as good. And, the video decompression results in less jerky motion. The result is much more comfortable to watch than the Samsung. You won't hesitate to watch an entire movie. The screen is still not as good as on the Archos, however - the colors are less brilliant and the outlines are not as sharp. This is particularly visible with photos. But what you get is still very good, with few screen reflections and a good angle of vision.

Let me just say in passing for Archos fans: We tried the 80 GB version of the AV 400 and the screen is .3 inches bigger and the colors are warmer, albeit with a tendency to be little yellow. The large display size of both Archos and Creative's player increase the level of visual comfort.
