5. Verdict

The Touch is one of the first of what are likely to be many Windows Mobile devices that experiment with the venerable Windows Mobile user interface. It’s been around a long time, with key elements that have changed only slightly since the launch of Windows CE 1.0. TouchFlo is an interesting experiment, but you shouldn’t expect too much from it. Its functions are limited, and as it uses a single-touch screen, it can’t provide the same level of UI innovation as the iPhone.

So has HTC come up with an iPhone competitor? The answer has to be a resounding no. Has it come up with a better way of working with Windows Mobile? The jury’s still out on this one. I found the TouchFlo elements useful, if simplistic, and wished I could use them for more than just scrolling through the rest of Windows Mobile.

In summary, the Touch isn’t a bad device, just one that quite clearly doesn’t live up to the hype.
