8. The LAN Chip Sits On The PCIe Bus

LG Electronics is one of the first vendors to use LAN circuitry in its notebooks that attaches directly to the PCI-Express bus.

The notebook uses a Marvell LAN chip that connects to a PCI-Express slot.

The WLAN module is easy to turn on or off with the press of a single button.

Intel's WLAN card supports 802.11 a, b, and g standards.

The IP Operator 2005 software that LG provides to document and manage network connections is unique and useful. The applet makes network connections easier to view and manage than does the standard Windows Network Connections tool.

IP Operator reports on IP addresses, network connection types and speeds.

Information about WLAN connections is both more detailed and easier to understand than what's available from built-in Windows XP tools.

Individual profiles can be associated with specific network connections.

IP Operator 2005 reports any significant change to the network connection in a small pop-up in the taskbar.
