It’s clear that M-tech is going after the serious mobile gamer. There are two interesting things about the sample they sent us: it came with Windows Vista, and it came with a Core2 Duo E6400 CPU instead of the optional E6800 Extreme Edition. Windows Vista might seem like an odd choice for a gaming machine when we consider that the 7950 is a DirectX 9 class GPU that won’t be assisted by Vista’s DirectX 10 features, and that the Windows XP drivers are more mature than their Vista counterparts. Note that any gaming comparisons between these two notebooks will likely be significantly impacted by the fact that they are using different operating systems.

To be sure, gaming will also be affected by the performance difference between the E6800 Extreme CPU in the Eurocom notebook and the E6400 CPU in the M-Tech model. However, at the high resolutions these notebooks are capable of, the CPU’s influence in gaming applications is greatly diminished. I would almost expect that the operating system will be more of a factor than the CPU.

The M-tech also came equipped with DDR2 800 MHz RAM, and a 100 GB hard disk.
We should note that M-Tech offers some pretty nifty customization options, including custom paint jobs for your notebook! This is a very cool feature, and definitely a nice touch for those who value individuality and style.
