Target Market

Eurocom has focused on the professional workstation user with their D900C Phantom series. Their website makes this pretty clear: "CAD/CAM and 3D designers, engineers, architects, animators, graphics professionals and digital content creators who frequently travel, yet need access to powerful computing, are the core target for Mobile Workstations."

With this in mind, it makes sense that they chose to send us a notebook with a high-end Core2 Duo E6800 Extreme processor, as CPU performance will factor in heavily in these types of applications.

Differentiating itself from the M-Tech, the Eurocom came with DDR2 667 as opposed to the DDR2 800 in the M-Tech. The Eurocom also sported a 120 GB hard drive. Similar to the competition, the model they sent came with two Geforce 7950 GTX GPUs in an SLI configuration, which would again be of value in the CAD/3D arena.

M-Tech has a different spin on the platform: "The ultimate gaming machine. MTECH D900C is based on the Intel P965 chipset and can support the Intel Core 2 Extreme CPU, which is the most powerful desktop CPU in the world. To provide the best 3D graphic performance, nVidia MXM IV SLI technology is also designed in the D900C."
