3. Under The Hood

Inside the belly of the beast.

Looking around the outside of the case, you can see that there are a lot of ports and other features - ways to get the most out of this notebook. Let's take a look inside the machine however, at the "guts" that make it run. Removing one large plate allows you to get at the main components.

The CPU heatsink consists of two heat pipes, each going to its own radiator located near an opening in the case. The entire heatsink is copper, except for the section that directs airflow.

In the bottom left-hand corner you can see the CPU heat sink. To the right of that is another heatsink for the GPU. To the left of the GPU fan are the two SO DIMMs of PC3200/DDR400 memory. Above the GPU is the wireless LAN adapter.

On the far right are the bays for the DVD+/-RW drive and the battery. They both have a single locking clip, which can be easily operated for quick device swapping. The housing for the hard drive is in the top left corner.

is there a way to enter the bios and change the cpu speed on these computers?
