In light of estimated global demand for 20 million digital photo frames in 2008, leading Taiwan-based makers have been competing for OEM orders from international vendors, while having to compete with makers of mini notebook PCs for supply of TFT-LCD panels in the 7" and 8.9" segments at the same time, according to industry sources in Taiwan.Thanks to OEM orders from Philips and ViewSonic, Lead Data recorded the largest shipment volume of digital photo frames in 2007 for Taiwan-based makers, the sources indicated.
