Like most notebook computers today, the Dell M1710 can play CDs and DVDs without loading Windows.
OK, time for a quick tour around the four sides of the M1710.

Left side, from left to right: security cable slot, air exhaust for Northbridge chip and CPU, 2 USB 2.0 ports, CD/DVD drive
