4. TV Elite XGA
In my design, the TV Elite XGA's job was to convert the external monitor output of my laptop to S-Video for display on a TV. Figure 5 shows the back of the device.

Connectors are present for composite video output, S-Video output, VGA input using a special connector and VGA output, for pass-through to a standard VGA monitor. The top of the device has four buttons for picture adjustment. A small remote is also provided for further adjustment and configuration.
Figure 6 is a frame grab of the output S-Video signal that resulted from feeding my laptop's external VGA connector through the device. The quality is about what you can expect with a device like this: small text is unreadable, and graphics are a bit blurred. It can take in a 1024x768 signal, but it has to output a signal that is more along the lines of 640x480 interlaced, so something has to give.
