VIDEO: Samsung Breaks Dodgeball World Record
Samsung, along with a massive team of volunteers, has broken the world record for biggest ever dodgeball game.
Sure, you've heard of the guys watching every single episode of Lost in an attempt to raise $100,000 and break the world record for number of hours spent watching television (live feed here), but did you know that 712 New Yorkers recently broke the world record for biggest ever game of dodgeball? With roughly 350 on each team, they hurled 600 balls at each other until the yellow team was completely wiped out by the blue team. The whole thing was a marketing gimmick for the Samsung Gravity, which launched last month, so 10 people from the winning blue team, along with the last man left standing on the yellow team, were all given a free phone for their efforts.

That's so lame. Just because they officially did it. As opposed to the 1200 university students who didn't get official recognition: http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dodgeball-game

I would have paid good money to be there. Only $100 for a bus ticket to the UoA too...
Uh, interesting I guess? I think this is just a gimmick, but sure.
If nothing else, that sure would've been fun
You mean people actually play this? Seriously I thought it was just a game made up for the movie had no idea people actually played it for real

Does look fun though
I can win!
but can they play crysis?
What, only 11 prizes?
There is a World Record for anything and everything nowadays. Who cares.
World record for most comments in a news article? lets do it! let the useless/mundane/attention-seeking record attempt begin!

Must have been a big room.....
Yes the University one is way better I love the footage of them going back and forth, the surge!
Just like samsung, that is the most stupid idea ever.
You can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball!
The ball looks soft..I imagine it would be painful but after watching the video- not really lol.. When I was like 8 yrs old I played my own version of dodge ball using tennis ball!
In the video at 0:46 it says 1500 people. not 712 New Yorkers.
Didn't they watch the video?
That's about as useful as a poopie-flavored lollipop.
If you can dodge a phone, you can dodge a ball !!!
If you can dodge a phone, you can dodge a ball !!!
Yeah they should have been throwing phones around
I would've hated to wear yellow, not because I hate yellow but because blue has a calming effect while yellow stands out like a giant pimple. Those are some really bright yellow shirts too. I have a feeling that if the shirts had been switched, the team that lost would've won by considerably more.
Cool unofficial record video. I wonder why they didn't make it official with all the planning you'd have to put into it. You more or less just have to tell them that you're doing it, and they send someone as a witness.
I guess it's true... If you can dodge a 32nm nand flash chip die, you can dodge a ball...
