CES 2010: D-Link's Gaming and Storage Routers
Whether you need built-in storage or a gaming-friendly router, D-Link has got you covered.
D-Link has more new products than you can shake a stick at here at CES 2010, so I focused on two that will make our readers' lives a little easier, and both happen to be routers.
The D-Link Touch (DIR-865) is exactly what you think it is - a router with a touchscreen. All of the router's functions and features can be accessed and controlled through a three inch movable top-mounted touchscreen. But don't worry, the Touch is more than just a fancy interface, as it includes dual-band transfer speeds of up to 450 Mbps, QoS packet management, and USB SharePort built-in so you can share storage and printers over your network.
Speaking of storage, the latest Xtreme N router from D-Link should make all the home theater/torrent junkies quite happy. The Xtreme N Storage Router (DIR-685), has a built-in LCD screen as well as a spot for a 2.5-inch hard drive. The 685 can support capacities up to 2 TB, so if you're debating on whether you should invest in that new NAS setup, this might be the perfect solution.

eh...looks expensive...i think i'll stick with dd-wrt
D-Link's website says the DIR-685 supports up to 1TB not 2
Hmmm...
looks like D-Link actually listened to a bunch of us when it comes to some of the new features.
Now let's see if they can do any better with their piss poor support than they did with their last flagship product the DGL-4500 which was more of a disaster trying to get them to fix the darned thing.
That DIR-685 looks pretty cool.

To bad it costs $300
Also, it only supports a maximum of a 1Tb 2.5" hard drive

I'm liking this. 300 bucks isnt bad considering its a nas station and router.
id rather it was larger so it could house a 3.5" drive, with capacity up to 4tb maybe so it has future expandability. I'm so sick of products still being sold that have a 1TB hard drive capacity limit.. why are they still on shelves??
Too expensive for casual users. My router is $60 and it's perfectly fine.
Well, I paid $150 for my current Extreme N dual band gigabit router...
It has no touch screen, but it does have a USB port to act as a NAS.
No real change with this one.
Drives are showing up in a variety of new devices. The drive manufacturers must be pleased.
Why does it need a touch screen??? Surely that adds unneccessary expense to the item, and I'd prefer to change any settings via a web interface like I currently do rather than go up to it to change settings.
The screen also shows your current download speed and other Info This is a good Idea i have had one of hrese deom the beta team and i can say the Hardware works good... I am one of the reviwers fir Toms Hardware
