I drove the Genesis G90 for a week — and it's like a private jet on wheels

I thought I’d already experienced the best of what Genesis had to offer, but I was wrong. From the sporty and engaging all-electric GV60, to the spacious, three-row GV80, Genesis has proven to be one of the most generous car makers in the luxury market.

Yet, I didn’t fully realize the extent of that generosity until I stepped into the 2026 Genesis G90 3.5T E-SC Prestige Black. This four-door sedan is overflowing with features that make convenience its very foundation. It's quite literally a private jet on wheels and — without question — the most luxurious vehicle I’ve tested to date. Here’s why.

Powered doors that self close and open

Easily the most luxurious thing about the 2026 Genesis G90 3.5T E-SC Prestige Black is that you never have to exert yourself to shut a door again. The Easy Close System automatically operates the doors for me, by simply pressing on the corresponding button by the armrest — or using the dedicated controls on the center console.

When exiting, a gentle tap on the exterior door handle trigger's the motor to shut the door on its own. This isn't just a convenience, it’s an over-the-top feature that sets this sedan apart from anything else I’ve tested.

It actually feels more sophisticated than the soft-close doors on the Cadillac Escalade IQ, especially since any open doors automatically shut the moment I tap the brake pedal.

Mesmerizing LEDs, custom scent experience

When the sun goes down, the cabin of the 2026 Genesis G90 3.5T E-SC Prestige Black is a sight to behold, thanks to the incredible array of ambient lighting. Nearly everywhere you look, there’s an iridescent glow that amplifies the vehicle’s allure — including the rear cabin, which features striking LED accents along the door panels.

The quilted black semi-aniline leather seats deserve a mention as well. They don’t just look exquisite, they make me feel as though I'm sitting on a cushion of air.

And to complete the sensory experience, Genesis includes a fragrance system that diffuses a custom scent throughout the cabin to keep it smelling fresh. Regardless of which seat you choose, you’ll be greeted to a refreshing smell the moment you step in.

Fully reclining rear seats + massage

I can’t forget the rear seats. I don’t typically spend much time in the back when testing a new car, but the 2026 Genesis G90 practically begs you to climb in and experience its spa-like environment.

That’s because it’s the only sedan I’ve tested that offers fully reclining seats for a truly first-class ride. If that’s not enough, they also feature the same Ergo Motion technology found in the front, delivering a massage that solidifies the G90 as the ultimate spa sanctuary for your passengers. Plus, you get sprawling views of the sky thanks to its panoramic glass roof and each rear passenger has their own fold down mirror.

Stealthy, yet bold design

What’s instantly apparent about this top-of-the-line trim is the stealthy aesthetic Genesis has achieved. The all-black exterior ditches the shiny chrome and lighter-colored accents found on other models. I’m usually not a fan of black because it can feel a bit conventional, but the way this trim decks out just about every inch of the exterior makes it feel truly special.

Bottom line

I’ve tested luxury vehicles that cost significantly more, but even at the $107,895 as-tested price of the 2026 Genesis G90 3.5T E-SC Prestige Black, it remains far more generous with its niche features than its competitors.

Don’t let its understated demeanor fool you, it's one of the most tech-forward cars I’ve driven all year. It truly succeeds in establishing itself as a private jet on wheels by perfectly balancing beauty and convenience in a single package.
