The right side of the A8 is home to the Toshiba DVDW/HD TS-L802A DVD-ROM/DVD-RW drive and the security lock slot.

As tested, the Tecra A8 came with a Fujitsu MHV2100BH PL 100 GB SATA drive running at 5400 RPM.

Our test A8 came with a pair of 512 MB 533 MHz DDR2 RAM modules. These occupy both memory slots, maxing out the total memory capacity of the notebook. Two 1 GB modules get you 2 GB of memory and two 2 GB modules take you up to the maximum memory capacity of the A8, 4 GB.

The unit comes with Intel's PRO/Wireless 3945ABG, which supports 802.11a/b/g wireless networking.
