7. Benchmarks Under Windows XP

We've added some real-world applications such as Pinnacle Studio 8.5 or MainConcept's MPEG encoder to our standard witches' brew of benchmarks.

As we were interested in how RAM configuration affected performance, we ran the tests with both single-channel and dual-channel memory. We also examined the performance impact of deactivating hyperthreading (HT off).

We measured battery run-down time in three different scenarios in order to simulate typical user behavior:

Presentation (playing a presentation in a loop); DVD video playback (playback in a loop); Gaming (game demo in an endless loop).

In all the battery benchmarks, we set the display brightness to 100 candelas per square meter.
