The UT2003 test took both systems to the very limit of their 3D capacities. Unfortunately, none of their frame rates would translate into fluid gaming.
System Performance: Sysmark 2002
We ran Sysmark 2002 with a broad range of memory configurations.

The desktop system is 15% faster than the ThinkPad G40 for standard office and Internet applications. It seems appropriate at this point to wonder whether this is reason enough to opt for the desktop PC.
Our two cents: the ThinkPad G40's scores for standard office and Internet applications are already so high that you would be hard pressed to find fault with it. So why do you need the desktop PC's performance overkill anyway? It certainly won't make your word processor run any faster.
