The long name is not the only thing that is new about Microsoft's Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC, the updated version of Pocket PC 2002.
PPC 2002 and 2003 share virtually the same user interface. But what is new is below the surface: PPC2003 is no longer based on Windows CE 3.0 but on Windows CE .Net 4.2.

The compatibility to .Net is supposed to make it easier for software developers to port existing .Net applications to the Pocket PC.
