Earlier today, Apple quietly released an iPhone and iPod Touch firmware update that brings the update from 2.2 to 2.2.1.
The small bump in version number brings about only a few changes as mentioned by Apple in its software update release notes.
Those who use their iPhones or iPods as a mobile internet device will be pleased to learn that the new version improves the general stability of Safari. From our own experiences, many of the crash problems went away after 2.2 hit, so the new one must make things even more rock-solid.
The new firmware also fixes a bug where images saved from an email in Mail don’t display correctly when viewed in the Photo viewer. This happened most often with high-resolution images, leading us to believe that it was an issue with the device scaling the picture.
The third and last fix deals with the skipping playback of Apple Lossless (ALAC) files, if that’s a format some of your music is stored in.
Hit iTunes’ updater to get the latest. Of course, if you have an unlocked and/or jailbroken iPhone/iPod, it’s best to wait.

FLAC > ALAC
My iPhone wont play FLAC files, so FLAC>ALAC is moot.
How does this deserve to be news? This is ridiculous. A minor update for one phone's firmware? Gimme a break...
You forgot to add: this update bricks jailbroken phones again.
You forgot to add: this update bricks jailbroken phones again.
This update does NOT brick jailbroken iPhones/iPods. It will however remove any jailbreak currently on the device and if you are using an iPhone 3G with the yell0wsnow unlock, possible destroy any chances for you to re-unlock your phone.
The update does not affect the ability for the new 2G Touch to be tether-jailbroken. It also has no effect on 1G iPod's/iPhone's ability to be jailbroken, though we must wait for the iPhone-dev team to update PwnageTool/QuickPwn.

That's my point, that should support FLAC rather than ALAC.
