The Verizon iPhone 4 is Jailbreakable Too
They're not unlockable, but there are plenty of other reasons to jailbreak!
There's lots of apps and tons of functionality in the iPhone 4, but it's still not as good as it could be. For that, we have jailbreaking, which opens up the door to all sorts of new functionality and applications that Apple doesn't want you to have.
With the release of new iPhone hardware, there's always the question about jailbreaking. Fear not, however, as the Verizon iPhone 4 seems to be just as jailbreakable as the global model.
Early tests using the greenpois0n exploit have revealed that the latest software tool works also on the Verizon iPhone 4, despite the hack not being specifically designed to do so. Given that the phones are essentially the same except for the radios, this shouldn't be too surprising.

Then why on Earth is this news?

Because some people out there might have been wondering if the same was true for Big Red's iPhone. Just like how some people out there like to be snotty about something they aren't even paying for. >.>

It's almost as if Tom's wants us to bash apple that they keep making these supposed "news" articles... I think there is a bit of secret apple hate going on in that office!
Why do the iPhone's have different radio's in the US? Couldn't they have ONE radio that supports each carrier?
Do Verizon and AT&T own their own operating frequencies or something.

Yes, the two use two different technologies. CDMA for Big V, and GSM for AT&T. The two are not compatible at the phone level.
I thought this would be obvious. Nothing is really different other than the radio.
