Los Angeles (CA) - Apple and AT&T stores are slowly rolling out the new 3G iPhone, but die-hard fans can get one right away ... if they plunk down some serious cash. The phones are being offered on Craigslist and eBay and in some cases the asking price is just insane. One eBay seller is offering the 16 GB phone for $1499, while Los Angeles area Craigslist ads have the phone selling for approximately $1200.

Apple launched the 3G iPhone more than a week ago and it’s sold more than one million units so far. Some iPhone fans camped out in front of Apple stores for the launch and were lucky enough to buy the phone, but now most stores are currently out of stock. Apple store employees say more shipments are continuously arriving.

Ok, but some people just can’t wait and need a phone now. One guy advertising on Craigslist says he’ll buy your iPhones for $700 for the 8 GB model and $800 for the 16 GB version. "I’ll buy as many as you have," says the man. While this may sound like a lot of money, the guy is really only paying $100 per phone for the time you spent waiting in line. The no contract iPhones retail for $599 and $699 for the 8 GB and 16 GB models, respectively. Another Los Angeles area Craigslist advertiser is selling his jailbroken 16 GB 3G iPhone for $1200. OUCH!

But if that seems like a painful price, eBay sellers are charging much more. One ’Buy it Now!’ price has the 16 GB phone for $1499. According to the auction ad, these phones are no contract phones.

The regular price for the 8 GB iPhone is $199 while the 16 GB model sells for $299. These phones require a two-year contract with AT&T.
