Apple Confirms Next iPhone Event for October 4
Time to breathe a huge sigh of relief: the end of all these iPhone 5 rumors is in sight.
We've been talking about the iPhone 5 since the beginning of the year. Originally thought to be launching in June (because that's Apple's traditional iPhone refresh period), the company has remained quiet about its iPhone plans all year, leading to months of rumors regarding the iPhone 5 (and possibly even iPhone 4S). However, it seems Apple is finally ready to introduce us to Cupertino's next breed of smartphone.

Apple today confirmed the previously-rumored October 4 press event. As we'd heard before, the event will be taking place at Apple headquarters, as opposed to the usual San Francisco location that is the Buena Vista Center for the Arts. Apple didn't say much in in the invite, but we do know that it's an iPhone event (the 'Let's talk iPhone' tagline is a bit of a giveaway).
Stay tuned. We'll be providing the latest when the time comes, next Tuesday at 10 am Pacific Time.

Spoken like a true iDouche.
Galaxy S II is old already. Google Prime seems interesting, to which I might upgrade from my Galaxy S. But I'll have see what's on the horizon when Prime comes out.
I patented the color that is in the background of this page, please send some $$$ to my personal account or else...
I hope they build the new apple headquarters like a spaceship and it will also have propelling rockets, so we can eject them into space.
Yay, 2 "news" in one day about the same rumor.
Don't forget to send Gruener there.

Two words: Nexus Prime

Funny that most people think that the galaxy s is a copy cat of the iphone 4 yet the galaxy s was released 20 days before the iphone 4.

Moreover, the two deviced don't even share THAT many qualities. Sure they look alike a small bit, however, aside from that, they are entirely different phones.
The one who is naive enough to blame copycat is just another iDiot who hasn't used the competition, and clearly thinks very superficially because that is all they see.
Anyways, enough debate.
On topic: As much as I hate apple, them coming out with a more powerful phone only increases competition, soooo.... LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!!

Well they do have one thing in common, the CPU in the Samsung Hummingbird and in the Apple A4 is identical. In fact the only difference in both SoCs is in the GPU. The Hummingbird uses a PowerVR SGX540 and the A4 uses a PowerVR SGX535. Both SoCs are manufactured by Samsung.
Galaxy S2 is old btw, was out in Europe last year just now getting here to the US. You Apple haters need to go spew your sludge somewhere else. The iPhone 5 will sell more than your garbage android phone 10 times over. It just works. So Stfu.

Sure maybe you can make a case for individual phones not being copycats, but the first true smartphone was the iphone. Sales numbers speak for themselves.

You should all get Blackberries... or is that company dead yet?
I'll watch the event and see the specs before I decide if I do or don't or whatever.
Maybe they should change the name of this site to iTom's
Somebody's taking major ad money from Apple, unless Tom's denies it .....
on October 4th we will finally see apple coming out with a phone that finally catches up with the Nexus and the rest

Firstly: visit for some facts. I know iReality is a little blurry through those iRose tinted glasses.
Secondly: Sales numbers prove nothing, all people do somethings that are not in their best interests, i know i do.

Yeah, i stopped going to gizmodo because the wash of apple jism was getting suffocating, the articles are slightly more impartial here, though the one on cases for the unreleased iphone was a shocker.
These sites have i think forgotten what innovation really means, it certainly is not making something look pretty, or making it easier to use, that's just refinement. I've been around since the first PC's now they were innovative but there was less media hype then too, admittedly no interwebs and tech came in magazines on paper! who'd believe that?
sorry for the double post but the url didn't work, visit : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smartphone
cheers

you can say that but apple missed the first smart phone bus by about 15 years

i like how you call the android phones the copy-cat, that's why all these 'new' features that are coming for IOS5 are just copied from android

Who is copying who?
8mp camera? Been around for 3 years
Dual core CPU maybe? Already been done
Bigger screen? Every other phone for the last 2 years
In white? Still not innovating, keep clutching at straws
...
Err, because Steve Jobs says if I don't buy it a kitten will die? Now you are starting to "think differant"
Sure they look alike a small bit, however, aside from that, they are entirely different phones
Some people say I look a bit like Elvis
...
In the fact that we both have 2 legs and a head
...
That is the same reality that Apple lives in with it's legal comparison of the Galaxy to the iPhone
Looks like Al Gore got something right for a change.

If you mean the first true smartphone made by Apple, then yes it's the iPhone. Ever heard of the Palm Treo or Blackberry? Heck if you want to yell copycat, then fyi the iPhone is just an improved version of every PDA and smartphone that has existed before it.
Well, we'll see on Oct.4 if all this hype and talk was worth it.
I'm getting a Galaxy S2. Up yours Apple!!!
I'm getting a DROID PRIME.
I still see the same debates at every new Iphone/Ipad/Ijunk released. Sad that some people still find it to be T3H B3ST PH0N3 EV3R !!
Sales numbers speak for themselves.
Congratulations for being loyal.
Billy Ray Cyrus's "Achy Breaky Heart" went to no. 1 in the charts. Sales numbers speak for themselves.
