Analyst: The iPhone 5 Was Steve Jobs' Last Project
One analyst says Steve Job had a part in the conception and final design of the next iPhone.
Former Apple CEO Steve Jobs passed away the morning after newly-appointed Chief Executive Tim Cook unveiled the iPhone 4S on October 4 at a special event on the Apple campus. However, despite the fact that the iPhone 4S is the latest Apple iPhone, it seems it wasn't the last iPhone Steve Jobs worked on.
According to one analyst, Steve Jobs also had a hand in designing the next and as yet unannounced iPhone (believed to be the iPhone 5). This expert also believes the device will become a cult classic because it was the last product Jobs had a part in developing. CNet cites Ashok Kumar, an analyst at Rodman & Renshaw as saying the next iteration of the iPhone "was the last project that Steve Jobs was intimately involved with from concept to final design." He adds, "For that reason...this product will establish the high water mark for iPhone volumes."
Other than this little morsel, Kumar's research note contains some of the same iPhone 5 rumors we've heard before, such as support for LTE, and a larger screen (while maintaining the same dimensions as the current iPhone). Kumar is also predicting a slimmer design for the iPhone 5, and other CNet sources also say the next iPhone will be a complete redesign.

Now apple is going to try and use Steve's death as a marketing tool? R U Kidding Me?
Now apple is going to try and use Steve's death as a marketing tool? R U Kidding Me?
Are you surprised?
Are you surprised?
I should be, but I'm not at all.
I should be, but I'm not at all.
No you shouldn't.
The death of Steve probably had a good impact on sales of the 4S, so it should come as no surprise that apple is trying to make the legacy live on
Of course... tickling them stupid fans's tiny brains with steve jobs name to get them to feel good about buyin his last product that he touched with his (godly revolutionary) w/e it is.
He passed away in the afternoon, not the morning.
It's not because it's good for sale.. that they should use it.They sell theirs souls... and now they sell theirs dead.... FREAK!!!
Yeah, using the dead so that a big corporation can keep milking it's customers...
Disgusting!
Thank the Emperor...

Jobs himself would do that; don't get so upset.
regardless whether he died or not, all iphones sell amazing because....its an iphone. To add the tid bit about the death....not so cool, whether they did it or not, the iphones are gonna sell the same
Where do I put in my preorder?
Jobs himself would do that; don't get so upset.
Sure, but that doesn't make it ethically and morally acceptable.
And not upset, I would say dissapointed however with some pretty low expectations from apple I can't say I am.
I do not see any problem to call product "In memory of Steve Jobs". Why not?
lol me either, however so many people think its bad marketing, if i died and i worked my @!! off not sleeping to get this thing out, id like people to know i went out with a bang
your heading was wrong. should be Iphone 4s was not last that steve worked on instead of iphone 5

True dat.
Apple is getting free marketing worldwide from the death of Jobs.
Hell, I live in Kuwait, and it was all over the news that day, EVERYONE at my university was talking about it as well as praising the 4S...
... if your phone is not an iphone, then it's crap, even my friends tell me that I should've went with the iphone when I show them my Galaxy S2
iphone: completely closed and tracking you wherever you are. revolutionary! incredible!
@DarkChazz

what kind of university is that? Id love to discredit anybody who graduates from that university

Tell them to get a life.
Where does it say that Apple plans to do anything tying the death of Jobs to any products? The article merely pointed out that the iPhone 5 was that last product that Jobs was involved with. An outside analyst then made some predictions based on consumer behavior that may or may not come to pass. Quite a jump to go from last product Jobs worked on to Apple capitalizing on his death and tying it to said product.
The release of iPhone 4 and his death the next day is pure coincidence... nothing more.
iphone: completely closed and tracking you wherever you are. revolutionary! incredible!
and android doesn't?
What are they supposed to do, not release another phone?
What are they supposed to do, not release another phone?
Close down and give their $$ to charity.
To be serious: sure, they're "supposed" to release another phone, but that doesn't mean we'll hate them less.
I'm sure he also had his hands in merging iOS with Mac OS X and at least gave it a direction. With Siri out he probably also had directed them towards merging that with OS X or Mac iOS whatever it's called. Along with plans for multi-touch integrated Macs with prototypes.
I don't there is anything wrong with the CEO's legacy benefiting its company, or is it? It's not like they are selling his body parts or something...
P.S. I do not own any Apple product nor am I it's supporter.
The iphone 5 will be my next purchase seeing as my contract on the samsung with windows 6.5 contract is almost up. Now that was a piece of shit. But yeah, to answer your question this will increase iphone 5's sales forsure.
@DarkChazz what kind of university is that? Id love to discredit anybody who graduates from that university
Don't worry, I'm in a dutch university and it's exactly the same here.... Pathetic
"believed to be the iPhone 5"
Actually, if we stick with Apples naming scheme so far for the iphone line, the next phone would be the iPhone 6.
I can already imagine things 4 years from now... Steve Jobs had plans for iPhone 7 hidden under his bed. It seems we haven't seen the best of Steve yet, watch out as his unfinished work turns out to be a lifetime classic. -_-
I would have figured his last project was the i-sueSAMSUNG
