Asian iPad Knockoff Runs Full Windows 7
A Chinese gadget online retailer is already selling an iPad clone.
Chinese gadget website Shop Kami is now selling an iPad clone that's running Windows 7. Called the Ezy Tablet, the device features a larger 10.4-inch screen, a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 250GB HDD. The device also has three USB ports, an integrated 5-in-1 card reader, and a built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam.
But unlike Apple's iPad, the device isn't exactly slim in appearance, and the display has a native resolution of 1024 x 600. Consumers wanting to throw it on a wired network can hook up through the unit's RJ45 network port. There's also an optional external CD drive for $50-- surprisingly a DVD drive is not available.
The device itself-- before adding any extras-- costs exactly $679 before shipping. For an extra $18, consumers can upgrade the RAM to 4GB. The tablet ships without an operating system, forcing consumers to add Windows 7 or Windows Vista for an additional $180.
With all the extras like Windows 7, an optical mouse, carrying bag, and a 8GB SD card, you'll spend $989 on this device. For that price, you might as well buy a notebook rather than spend the bucks on this sluggish, flattened netbook.

$1000 is an i7 netbook/notebook, or a slower gaming laptop. No thanks.
How is this an iPad knockoff?
How is this an iPad knockoff?
And yet it is still more capable than an I-pad...
So lets see... it must be an iPad knockoff because it has a touchscreen and is black and silver? Gosh I've never seen those features in a tablet PC before.
Let's just ignore that it has different specs and runs windows 7.
Great logic Kevin.
It would replace my netbook if it were cheaper
Id rather have that thing then the ipad. Nvidias 1080p capable tegra 200-300 dollar netbooks were supposed to be out, I wonder who's supplying the chips in the iPad...........................
Put Ubuntu or Google Chrome OS on it and save $$$.
OK, so another company has a tablet. The tablet has different hardware than the iPad. The tablet has different software than the iPad. The tablet is superior to the iPad in terms of performance. The tablet is a different size and shape than the iPad.
WHAT MAKES IT AN "iPAD KNOCKOFF"???
Looks to me like a competing product.
Different hardware? Check.
Different software? Check.
Different apps? Check.
Different manufacturer? Check.
Superior performance? Check.
Not as pretty? Check.
Apple fanboy? Check.
It MUST be an "iPad knockoff."
not much of a knockoff but it has better features but not well priced against netbooks
this one is a lot cheaper and has the same features more or less. Its only $549

check it out!
Wow, way to grossly overstate the cost of everything Kevin...
If you buy Windows 7 then it doesn't need a mouse since it has a touch screen, nor does it need a CD/DVD drive (which any USB 2.0 extrenal CD/DVD drive would work, because USB is a STANDARD) because you can install Win 7 from a USB stick. Why are you buying an SD stick when you probably already bought one for a device that doesn't have a 250 gig hard drive? Got me on the carrying case, but as much as you grossly misrepresented everything else I'm sure you're looking at one that has gold trim.
Knock off?
Lets not list all the things this can do, that the iPad can't (and the things they can both do). I will leave some things off the list:
Flash, Webcam, 5-in-1 card reader, a full multitasking operating system, full web support, 250 Gig hard drive, choice in everything, upgradable RAM, more apps than are humanly countable (everything ever written for windows since Dos), for sale today, full iTunes support, fully compliant with additional peripherals like microphones, headsets, keyboards, other USB 2.0 devices, etc.
Yep, sure seems like a knock off.
Oh it doesn't have one thing the iPad has, fanatic fanboys such as yourself Kevin. Did it occur to you that this has been in the works since before Apple announced the iPad? Probably not. Researching and asking questions before writing articles isn't your style.
Boy, for this type of money... one could get that little 11.6" Alienware netbook decked out that will be x10 as powerful.
please stop h8in on asian companies...just cuz a lot of them make knock offs don't make this tru >
(i think the only reason he made this title was for views...
So did Apple invent the tablet pc now?
I love this news, YES!
This was on the market before the Ipad was announced, what you gonna report next? that the NES is a PS3 ripoff?
Dear Tom's Writers... please come to China and buy everything you can. we would love to make 300% margin with you naive price believing consumers...
And yet it is still more capable than an I-pad...
yes for 2.5 the price of Ipod... stop being a spoiled brat
Kind of cool, not interested though, my money is better spent elsewhere. What really gets me though it the optional CD drive... no DVD reads even in today's day in age, wtf. I didn't know that straight CD drives were even made anymore.
I once made an iPad knockoff. Before the iPad came out. Before the iPad was announced. And the screen is seperated from the computer. And there's an external keyboard. It also requires to be plugged in. It can run Crysis.
if it had a better cpu and a decent graphics chip I'd buy it for that price. I think a windows 7 "ipad" clone is a great idea. At least then I could run most of my apps that I run on my main desktop pc, or network it together and run remote desktop. A few things that would be cool would be an add on analog thumbstick and a few buttons on the right side so you could game with it.

the CD drive is for liability. I.E. the drive will stop working at some point.
Ok, so the base product comes with no CD-ROM Drive and no OS? How is the basic consumer going to use this product?
I agree with a previous user, get a laptop or netbook.
iPad has a better price, can play games, comes with an OS, has a 3G option, and still costs less than this. Though USB ports sound nice, this is just a keyboard-less netbook that cost as much as an upper-mid-range laptop.
Why can't they charge the OEM price of Windows 7? I bought the Home Premium OEM full version for $100 off of NewEgg just last week, and that was the normal price!
oops, noticed that the don't even sell the OS. Not that you could install Windows 7 from a CD drive anyways...
The author is a retard, he never saw a tablet before. Tablets have been in production since xp tablet version ~2005 days. Vista has tablet features pretty integrated, and windows 7 will just have better support.
That is what I did on my netbook.
I know a website to download the tablet version tools so that xp home version will work fine
