This 8-inch PMP Offers Glasses-Free 3D for $179
It's a portable media player that offers glasses-free 3D viewing, just don't expect to play Angry Birds on it.
Online retailer Brando is currently selling an 8-inch portable media player (PMP) that uses glasses-free 3D technology for $179 USD (plus an additional $3 for shipping). To achieve the 3D effect, the specs claim that it utilizes "3D engine speed chips, 3D image intertwined decoding and a Lenticular LCD screen." Beyond that, Gadmei's P83 3D PMP Player doesn't perform like a tablet despite its outward appearance, so don't expect to install Angry Birds or the official Glee app.
On the hardware side, there's very little to report other than it sports 4 GB of internal storage, a memory card slot (MMC, SD, SDHC) for throwing in another 32 GB of space, and a single USB port for hooking up an external HDD or thumb drive. On the graphics front, the 8-inch screen (1280 x 768) doesn't support touch input, thus requiring the owner to use the menu and control buttons located to the right of the screen.
For those who don't want to deal with processing 3D imagery, a 2D/3D button is also located to the right of the screen. However, as demonstrated in the video below, the image doesn't just revert back down to a single flat image, but instead breaks apart into two separate 2D images, forcing the user to rotate the screen vertically. That said, users may as well leave the 3D aspect on and suffer through the initial headaches.
The Gadmei P83 appears to support most video formats including DivX, Xvid, H.264 and even MP4. The gadget can even be used as an ebook reader although it only supports .txt text files (with a 10M text limit). The overall dimensions are approximately 220 x 138.5 x 17.8-mm, and it weighs in at a somewhat light 516g. Consumers using Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Windows 7 (FAT, FAT32 and NTFS) should have no problem hooking the device up to a USB port and downloading media directly to the device. Sorry Mac users, you weren't on the list.

I don't see any 3D...
I don't see any 3D...
Troll?
Anyways seems nice, but nah, not functional enough.
Lenticular 4D light field display don't cause focusing problems, so no headache! This is now, not in the future! This is how ALL the steroscoppic displays should be done! Finally it has arrived!
why cant they just make this into a pc monitor? or allow that kind of functionality? or hell, make a 2560x1600 screen for under 500$?
i mean hell, i would take ANY one of those any day of the week.
Because its so small the possible positions of your head is small. On a larger screen you need to be looking at a 90 degree angle and at a set distance. The further your deviate outside of that spot the less of a depth effect you get. "Glass's free" 3D is just an optical illusion.
It looks like something from the 90's. Getting past the looks, I'm not so interested in 3D but would rather take a nice PMP that offers FLAC.
