Mailman Steals 2,200 Games From GameFly
Seems like he was planning a getaway.
Have you failed to receive your game from mail game rental company GameFly? Then perhaps this will explain it.
Reginald Johnson, 34, of Germantown, was a mail-processing clerk who worked at a distribution center in Philadelphia who was found to have stolen a massive number of GameFly mailings all totaling in a value of $86,000.
Postal Service's Office of Inspector General received reports of missing mailings during late 2007. After conducting surveillance test, officials determined that that Johnson was stealing mailings from GameFly.
When federal agents tried to arrest Johnson, he hopped into his SUV and sped off before he crashed his vehicle. Following the crash, Johnson fled into in foot carrying a duffel bag.
The feds eventually caught up with Johnson and found 81 GameFly mailings in his bag along with another 79 that was left in the SUV. Also in the vehicle were five Nintendo Wii Sports, three Wii Fits, a PlayStation console and game controllers. Authorities also found GameStop receipts, which could be from games and hardware Johnson obtained from trading in games.
Johnson now works for Hatfield Quality Meats in Lansdale and faces from 12 to 18 months in prison. Read more here.

He stole games he didn't murder anyone
And if someone had pirated 100 games and was caught, they would be arrested for much longer than that, and charged millions in fines.

Next thing you know, a new article pops up on Tom's Hardware: "Factory worker steals 2,200 pounds of beef"

Doesn't gamefly stamp their games? I guess it wouldn't be too hard to remove it but I don't think its easy. Especially on that many games. And yet Gamestop took them?
It took them this long to catch on to him? Seriously, with all he stole?
Isn't anyone going to point out his grammar errors? Fine, I'll do it. He made some booboos in this article. C'mon Marcus!
Doesn't Gamestop only let you trade games with cases? Been a long time since I have done so as they give you so little for them. I don't think GameFly marks the discs, haven't really payed attention to that, but they sell games, so I would imagine even if it's marked as long as it has the case/manual Gamestop would take it.
usa justice system ftw. stealing millions of dollars from the consumer: 0years in jail. stealing some games: 2years in jail.
Still cheaper then stealing songs off the internet.
His $86,000 turns into about $86 at gamestop.
If only those video games had actually taught him how to drive.
He is getting off easy because they are games, if it was netflix, the RIAA would have him drawn and quartered.
$86,000? Doesn't this qualify as grand theft? Not to mention fleeing from police. 1-1.5 is REALLY low considering this. Heck, insurance scammers get more crap than that for less money embezzled.
I just hope he wasn't stealing OPF
R how would he handle all the returns from dissatisfied customers who bought it form him

That makes it sound like he ran into someone's boot going up his ass.
Here is my little justice story.20 years ago i was arrested for selling an 1/8 ounce of cocain and got this for a sentence
18 months in lewisburg federal penitentiary
3600.00 fine
6 years of federal supervised release
so more than 7 years of my life all for one coke sale
now look at this shmucks crime and his sentence
sounds like a should of chosen the crime of THIEF instead of a low level drug dealer who was an addict then.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for a drug dealer compared? Good luck with that.
*compared to a guy who stole a bunch of rental games
^^^So was that a federal 'pound me in the ass' prison?
thought mailman steals only your wife! this guy is really addicted to games. should send him to that Quake-engine test lab and give the rats a day off.
WTF that's it?? He stole 2200 games from American Citizens. That guy needs at least 5 years.

So he's packing meat now.
Maybe he'll find some fellow meat-packers where he's going.
Yea jail the little guy while wall street steels trillions while people the world over sink into poverty in this jobless recovery. It seams as though no one gives a moments thought when $26.4 USD vanishes over a two year period while making quiet a show about balloon boy on CNN and his parents giant jiffy pop.
Isn't tampering with mail a federal offense AND a felony? You'd think that 2,200 counts of it would probably equal life in prison.

Only if he was stealing from the outside: As a federal employee, they'll probably give him a break by combining it into one offense and forgetting the fleeing/aluding, resisting arrest, and wreckless driving charges.
You can bet that if he hadn't been working for the post office and had lifted a mail bag from the back of a truck, he'd be charged with a separate offence for each letter in that bag.
He doesn't seem smart enough to use multiple store locations to avoid suspicion, so it's likely he had a buddy working at Gamestop who helped buy them from him without raising a few red flags.
You guys are completely over the top- holy shit it was games not armed robbery. No wonder the US has the most prisoners of any country in the world. I would prefer my tax dollar not going towards his federal R&R- or did you forget you/we are paying for that?
