Motorola DROID 2 Global Now Available

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

Verizon Wireless silently launched the Motorola DROID 2 Global on their website today following the pre-orders of the DROID PRO. The DROID 2 Global takes the standard DROID 2 and adds a quad-band GSM radio, which Verizon claims enables voice and data service in over 200 countries, and a faster 1.2 GHz processor.

Those hoping for a DROID 2 Global R2-D2 Edition will be disappointed as the DROID 2 Global is only available in the standard black and new white option. Hardware features of the DROID 2 Global are identical to the regular DROID 2 with a 3.7-inch WVGA display, five mega-pixel camera, 16GB of storage and Android 2.2 Froyo.

The DROID 2 Global is available now for $199.99 after $100 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract.

I'm kinda pissed cause I got a regular Droid 2 when it released. I don't need the global capability but i would like the slightly bigger battery and the faster 1.2 GHz processor. If they used the same OMAP and just clocked it up I think they should send out an update.

Is it possible to buy the Droid 2 WE outside of Verizon? Or if bought from Verizon would the phone work with an ATT sim card?
