7. Audio

Lame and OGG audio conversion love the additional cores, and Dell's superior clock speeds, and without the huge Windows Vista performance penalty.

Video

TMPGenc does a decent job of using the extra processor cores, giving the Dell XPS 720 H2C a significant lead in both DivX and XviD. However, the version we had didn't work with Windows Vista, and we simply didn't have enough time to pick up a new version and create a new reference file.

Applications

3D Studio Max wants all the processor power it can get, and doesn't mind using a few cores to get it. Dell's quad core beats our dual core hands down, and its overclock obviously helps too!
