If gaming is all about smooth frame rates, the ultimate gaming experience will allow these at super-high resolutions and quality settings. After all, there's no point in having a bunch of processor power in a gaming system unless you have the graphics to back it up!

Dell chose two GeForce 8800 Ultras in SLI mode, differing from retail cards in the attached extender brackets that support the "loose" ends. This design should withstand additional abuse, not that you'd physically abuse a system like this. It's also important in reducing the chances of the system being damaged in shipping, and we've all seen what can happen during shipping!

Dell adds the Ageia PhysX processor to this system, to enable a more realistic display of collisions. A great technology for increased realism, it has yet to be taken up by the majority of game developers. The few games that support it are listed on Ageia's PhysX Titles webpage.

The XPS 720 series tackles two problems at once in its use of the Creative X-Fi sound card: it increases signal to noise ratios and reduces system overhead compared to onboard codecs.
