Comcast Rolls Out Full-time 3D TV Channel
Now you can wear those glasses on full time.
Do you have one of those fancy new HDTVs that work with those goofy glasses? In that case, you may want more to do with that TV other than just watch Avatar.
If you've got Comcast, you'll want to tune into the company's new 24-hour, next-generation 3D channel, named Xfinity 3D, its new which will make its official debut with the 2011 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic and a MTV World Stage concert with Kings of Leon, in 3D on February 20.
On February 20 at 6:00 p.m. ET, Comcast customers can watch the 2011 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic, the much-anticipated outdoor match-up between the Montreal Canadiens and Calgary Flames at McMahon Stadium in Calgary (also my hometown… Go Flames Go!), on Xfinity 3D. The game will also be available in 3D On Demand on February 21.
Immediately following the hockey game, at approximately 8:00 p.m. ET, customers will also have access to a MTV World Stage Kings of Leon concert from the O2 World in Hamburg, Germany on Xfinity 3D.
While 3D content is still somewhat slim pickings, Xfinity 3D already has documentaries line up of African safaris, haunted castles, the depths of the ocean, the surface of the sun, the age of dinosaurs, Chinese dragon dancing and rhythmic gymnastics.

For some reason the 3d bugs my eyes out.
you know, i would love to see the castles documentary in 3d. hell, id pay to see it in a thearter.
For some reason the 3d bugs my eyes out.
Same here, I wear glasses and having to wear 2d specs on top of specs is a pain in the arse and after 10mins I end up with a massive headache. To be honest it tends to affect the 3D image anyway, so im guessing you need good eyesight to start with before you can benefit from 3DTV

Ditto. Can't handle 3d at all. The one movie I saw in 3d gave me a headache that lasted 2 days.
Plus with 3d equipment costing like 600% more than 2d equipment, I just don't feel like it is worth it.
Wow, a whole tv network for the 1000 or so people who have actually bought a 3DTV. They are REALLY pushing this 3D tech on everyone. I guess they want lots of people to have eyesight problems.
I've spent a fair amount of time looking at stereoscopic images, old ones from the 1800's to current, and it HURTS THE EYES. A lot. It's a neat effect in small doses, but I personally wouldn't spend more than 5-10 minutes viewing anything stereoscopic. Also, I wear glasses and will not wear other glasses over my prescription glasses just to see a simple effect in a movie or tv show.
Well obviously 3D isnt for everyone, I think no one really likes to wear the glasses for a 2 hour movie either at home or in the theatre. I have no problems with my eyes or watching 3D, the effect works fine and is impressive on a nice 240 hertz larger tv. About 2 years or so glassless 3D will become the norm if it takes off that is. I dont like how they are forcing it down our throats though. I just bought a new Samsung 120 hertz LED tv and 2D is just fine for me for now and I have comcast and had them for many years. Most of the people hating on the new tvs cant afford one I would bet from all the whining.

No, they are like me an bought a TV 2-3 years ago and do not want to buy another one. The TV's now are almost 1/2 the price they were 3 yrs ago. They are also whining because of jackasses like you think and your "astute" observations.

Now now people no hating each other besides we need to save that for the uber rich that get fricken tax breaks for making over 103k a year. now thats f****** stupid.

Nope, I can see the whole C and E charts, and I still have to take breaks every 30 minutes. That is, taking glasses off for a minute and opening/closing eyes for a while.
While I like some of the 3D stuff but it really seems like a huge tradeoff in the end.
It's like wearing glasses with very small correction applied, doesn't just look/feel right. (harder to focus)
Jackass these, and I do think and get new every 2 years just like my vehicles because I can ahole. Go jump off a cliff make us happy.
Well I ain't got 3D TV & I ani't got comcast either, but I do think that this Xfinity 3D channel is a good idea & about time something like this has come up...
What's this four adds up for free by four different posts...Hey that is a record & about time they get rid of these boring adds...
give me a channel of the girl, i'll watch 24/7. I'll be in 3d (if you know what i mean)
xfinity????
xfire+ infinity
and who is that chic in the pic?

LOL indeed. Honestly if Comcast did have an adult 3D station I bet this tech would really start to sell.
As for all you haters; idk why we ever added color to the picture. You guys sound like Andy Rooney. I've never got a headache from it. Hopefully the prices on this tech drop to a point where all new TVs can support 3d.
Anyone who has a choice between Comcast and another carrier should choose the other carrier regardless of quality. Comcast needs to be taught a lesson and the only way to do that is to hurt their bottom line. Stop using Comcast. They are available here in Texas and I REFUSE to use them. If you have a choice please DO NOT use Comcast.
You all complaining about 3d, go on, Im off to watch Clash of the Titans on SKY 3d on my Pana 50" and I love it.
Once I am done there I think a little far Cry is calling in 3d using my 5850 and DDD ignition drivers on the same Pana 50", I wear glasses, and yes wearing two can be annoying and yes we paid a frotune for the setup, but I love it!

A fool and his money will soon be...
Wait.
A fool and his money have been parted.
I am legally blind and have to sit within 12 inches of my tv to watch a hockey game. I wandered into Best Buy one day and tried their demo 3D set up and couldn't believe the view. For those of us that have sight problems this is a godsend and allows me at least to sit back on the lounger at normal distance from the tv to watch a game in total relaxation. I don't know why it works but it does, I was told it tricks the mind and activates dormant areas of the brain and eyes to utilize undamaged areas to our advantage I hope. Try it out and see if it works for you. So to all you nay sayers on 3D I say stick it where the sun don't shine.
Since I already wear glasses, I'm fine wearing 3d glasses - I even have a $5 passive clip-on that I ordered from Hong Kong.
Active Shutter crap, however, I can't handle. My eyes are too fast for the flicker. It's obviously design by a bunch of older eyes.
Comcast will over price them self out of business. In China down speed 100 mbps and up speed 50 mbps for $40 per months. Comcast 6 months special 20 per month..... down speed 12-16 mbps and 3-5 mbps up speed. Greed Comcast like to SCREW AMERICANS CUSTOMER.
This 3D fad is just getting annoying at this point. Very rarely does it ever enhance the experience
of what is being are watched. It's already getting to the point where its being over used much like how special effects lose their appeal when the same thing is copied over and over. What they are going to do is turn a profitable and appealing thing and give it a pre-mature death by over-usage. I guess they rather break the chicken that lays golden eggs open rather than let it do its thing.
Comcast needs to be taught a lesson
Okay, what's the lesson?
you had me at the last line 3d rhythmic gymnastics
but srsly this is good for people with 3d tv's, one day i might jump on board with it, but it'll be when its glasses free, and not much more expensive than a regular lcd

This is where Contacts are good. I might have to go back to wearing Contacts some of the time. Wearing glasses (in the winter especially) can be annoying. Walk outside for a bit, then come inside and watch them fog up! :-)
And yes, 3D movies are difficult to watch with prescription glasses on.

If you think that the US taxes favor the rich, then you are entirely uninformed. Go ahead and Google "tax brackets" and take a look there. You'll notice that it is clearly the poor that are favored. You see, the more you make, the higher your PERCENTAGE of taxation is. That's what I call a "blatant, socialistic distribution of wealth" system which is unfair. Where's the motivation to work harder to earn more money... only to be taxed more? Consider a system where EVERYONE was taxed equally, percentage-wise. Isn't that the only thing that really makes sense? The answer is yes. Why don't we have this system then? Because there are too many lazy people in this country that want something for nothing.

Such a tax system would not be possible. If we all paid the same % I doubt even the middle class would be able to survive such taxes as it would have to mean a hike for them as our nation cannot afford lower taxes for those of us whom pay more. The middle class would simply crash and the lower would likely have to become even more dependent on social services that our taxes fund in the first place. Since this means less money in peoples pockets it would also mean less spending money and then the economy would take a giant hit
which means job losses which means more people dependent on government aid. This will also effect the incomes of the high class while also putting more stress on the government social programs which will require more funds which in turn would require higher taxes. This would create a vicious circle and would not take long to bring the nation on its knees.
Except the ultra-wealthy have enough money to pay people to hide their money in various loop-holes that they pay for with lobbyists and campaign contributions. Thus only the middle-upper class pay high taxes. Flat tax (or more realistically the "Fair Tax") would not only lower tax rates for the middle class, but would also ensure that the rich actually pay their fair share. Compliance would be a non-issue and enforcement would be simple. The IRS could be abolished saving us tons of money in the process.
3D TV is a gimmick, just like the Wii and Kinect. It DOES improve the experience in a limited number of ways, but is oftentimes overused to the point of it being worse than the older technology.
