6. Mio’s New Products Integrate Navman Software
Mio acquired Navman almost a year ago, and has since taken advantage of Navman software to improve its product range. At CeBIT, Mio presented its new line of products named Moov, with a new design, an improved car mount and new software that is basically Navman with some adjustments.
The Moov range will introduce a dynamic local search feature for finding points of interest such as shops, restaurants, businesses and amenities. This "Local Search technology" uses data provided by local partners, and may be used directly either on the PND via Bluetooth connection to a mobile phone, or on a PC using the software MioMore. The local databases will include many utilities not included in the usual points of interest supplied by map providers, such as hair dressers, pet shops and so on.
The Moov range also features SiRF’s new “InstantFixII” technology, which predicts where GPS satellites will be on start up so a fix can be achieved in as little as five seconds. The car mount has been redesigned to take advantage of Navman’s previous design.
The new Mio car mount looks sturdier, and at the same time less cumbersome than its predecessor Moov 330 Regional and 330/370 Europe (310 and 370 for Germany)
Mio Moov 370. The 330 has the same look, but lacks the TMC.
The Moov 370 at $580 has a 4.3” widescreen display, built-in traffic message channel (TMC) support with lifetime subscription, and Bluetooth for hands-free calling and use with MioMore desktop software. This PND also features a built-in mileage reporter and a trip meter, and comes with USA maps. The Moov 330 has the same features but lacks the TMC receiver, and is presented in two versions: one with a single region map ($274) and one with European maps ($351).
Moov 200 Regional and 200 Europe
Mio Moov 200
The Mio Moov 200 has a 3.5” touch screen and new navigation software, but lacks Bluetooth, so the Local Search feature will only be possible on the PC. It ships in two versions, with a regional map ($228) or with European maps ($274).
