Acer is currently testing WiMAX-enabled notebooks and expects to launch Montevina-based products with a built-in WiMAX module in June-July this year, according to Acer chairman JT Wang. Wang revealed Acer’s WiMAX notebook plans on the sidelines of a ceremony to mark the signing of a MOU between Intel and Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) for investment in Taiwan’s WiMAX industry as well as the purchase of WiMAX equipment from Taiwan vendors.
