Report: HTC EVO 4G, Cost $200, Launches June 6
We've been hearing a lot about Sprint's EVO 4G smartphone from HTC. Last we heard, RadioShack would be taking pre-orders this month. Today, reports say the phone will launch on June 6.
Android Central reports that a Palm fan over on the PreCentral forums was in his local RadioShack looking for some Palm accessories when he saw these product sheets on the counter. He started taking photos and asking the clerk questions. The clerk, it seems, was more than happy to answer them.
The RadioShack employee told PreCentral user bnceo that the device would be launching around June 6 and would cost $200 on contract. Off contract, you'd have to be willing to fork out $600 for the phone. The employee had no information on plans or costs for the mobile hot spot feature but handed the sheets to bnceo and told him to take them home because he could get more copies.
So, how 'bout it? $200 on contract or $600 off. Any takers?

i wonder if it can make phone calls
As a sprint customer, ive been waiting for a shiny new android phone and here it is. Guess i'll be waiting a few more weeks before upgrading
I love the service anyways so $200.00 it is.
Ok, I'll admit I'm not the know it all of cell phones. So I have a (probably stupid) question. What mobile carrier will be offering this phone?
never mind . . .Sprint it is.

Can't all cellphone makes phone calls?
I would like to get this phone, but there's no 4g in my area, and according to sprint, there are currently no plans to ever get it. With that in mind, there is not much reason to upgrade from my touch 2 anytime in the near future.

Sometimes stupid questions can be answered by reading. Hint 1. The URL of the article gives it away. Hint 2 Read the first paragraph.
Man Sprints really pushin their 4G. Verizon is testing theirs now. Hope they hurry up and get it out.
Will it come to Canada?
I'm getting that EVO Beast on pre order the second it is available!

That and Sprint is the only network running around screaming "We have 4G! We have 4G! We were first!" even though that is laughable right now at best.
$200 seems fair. let see performs.
For those of us that contracts just don't work, it sucks buyign a phone.
I don't understand where all the sprint hate comes from, they've had the best family plans for years and years. Right now we have four phones with unlimited data plans ( and evdo on all, soon to hit 4G with my evo ) for under 200 with taxes. No other company can touch that. My phone even works overseas in south america. Sprint may not be the absolute best, but it has the best bang for the buck, especially if one isn't up to paying verizon even more cash for the difference. Number 2 on sale isnt bad at all
Nice, but I'll be waiting for the Evo "Pro" with an actual keyboard. Touchscreens are for toys.
Touchscreen is the future, so you might as well get used to it. Don't push back. I did at first, too, but once you get over thinking inside the ever smaller-shrinking box, you will inevitably yearn to be free.

The heck? You are in the wrong forum.

NO Canada sucks!
Oh, and watch the video at about 1:45 seconds remaining is where the guy says he called the iPhone and it never rang...
Wow... How can any phone, smart phone or not win at all if the phone call did not go through? Reliable calling is a primary thing I look for in a phone, if a phone can't reliably let calls in or make calls it's out of my comparisons period...
@Camikazi
Yeah another Apple win, making a phone that's not very good as a phone. Just gloss it over with style and a slick interface and no-one will care...Wait a minute, weren't microsoft blasted by Apple for years over releasing OS's that weren't very good at being OS's for years?!?!
Looks like Apple is going for the Microsoft crown :-) lol
I hope something like this comes out for T-Mobile. Don't get me wrong the HD2 looks absolutely sexy, but I think I'll wait for the fall to see what they come up with for windows phone 7, then probably just end up getting an android phone.
My only problem is sprint. If you dont travel and live in 1 of the three places that get 4g reliably, I'd get this. But at that point why bother? Use a laptop since you obviously never go anywhere any way. Sprint is a joke carrier. They dont even cover all of the San Francisco area, not to mention the space between MAJOR cities.
That said, if this device ever comes to a non-suck carrier I'd be first on the line to grab it up. But by the time it does, it's gonna have its ass handed to it by the newer faster offerings from either Intel or ARM with dual cores and what not. As such, I deem this phone - FAIL.
As to 4G, 700-1200kbit is fast enough for my phone uses, so 4g is moot. I'll keep Verizon.

Just curious but do you even live in the Bay Area? I'm on Sprint now, live in Walnut Creek, go to school in Pleasant Hill, and frequently spend my free time in SF, and I've had nothing but excellent service with Sprint. Verizon does have "better" coverage I'm sure, but where? I have yet to run into anywhere that I don't get 3G coverage from Sprint and my bill is vastly cheaper in comparison with any other carrier.
Iono about sprint. not in my neck of the woods anyways. i get dropped calls every time i hit the grapevine. mighty impressive phone though. gj htc.
Apparently you gotta know the EVO.
Ok I guess I'll be the one to ask it....But can it play Crysis?
WHY DOES NO ONE LOVE CANADA?!!?
First the Zune HD now this.

4G is next generation, it should be with all carriers in about a year or so. Give it a break
