Sony today announced a couple of new PSP bundles that customers will see in the coming year as well as some new arrivals to the PSP.
Announced via the PlayStation Blog, Jeff Rubenstein, Social Media Manager, said fans can expect to see exclusive PSP editions of MotorStorm Arctic Edge (also coming to PS2), LittleBigPlanet, and the Petz series and told them to look out for The Warhawk Command Center, launching in PlayStation Home this week.
However what's getting the most attention is the new bundles announced at the company's annual retail and publisher conference, Destination PlayStation. Sony detailed an Assassin’s Creed bundle but didn’t specify a date other than “later in the year”. It will include the game itself, a “Piano Black” PSP and some other stuff yet to be announced.
Perhaps more interesting (read, annoying) is Sony’s attempt to nab itself some of the tween market (Nintendo’s DS has the likes of Catz and Dogz to attract younger females). The Hannah Montana bundle, complete with Lilac PSP, is expected in July (for $199) and comes with a Hannah Montana game (“an exclusive dancing and rhythm action game for gamers to design the show and go on tour as the teen icon”), episodes from the Hannah Montana TV series on UMD, a 2 GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, and Hannah Montana stickers.
While we’re not nuts about the idea of a Hannah Montana game for the PSP, we’re (okay, I’m) sort of bummed that they don’t offer Assassin's Creed with the lilac hardware (no word on whether it’s exclusive to this bundle or not). Though admittedly, we’re not sure it’d do much to attract the tweenie bopper market.

As an owner of both a PSP-1000 and PSP-2000, I wasn't really enthralled with the idea of adding a PSP-3000 to the collection, even if it is Lilac in color... that all changed when I read that there would be Hanna Montana stickers! WOW!!
Poor Sony, always behind the curve....don't they know Hannah Montana is going out of style as fast as she can take her clothes off?
Not necessarily out of style - taking her clothes off is simply changing who she's in style with!
I would say a lot of the Hannah Montana crowd isn't aware of what she's been up to lately. Although I guess it really only takes one kid on the playground to spread the news.
They might as well throw in some albums on the memory stick too.. That will get the party really bumping and bring in the tween demographic.
I don't give a damn about Hannah Montana, but can't wait to play Assassin's Creed on the go. No bundle for me, though. I'd rather keep my PSP-2000. No scanlines!
I think Sony is just wasting their time and money on this. I believe the majority of people who ever really wanted a PSP has one by now and really now a Hannah Montana theme?! Now I know its a obvious and desperate act to appeal to the young female gamers but this has to be the worst advertising plan since their annoying squirrel commercials. Besides the DS has a onslaught of games aimed towards the girls does Sony really think they can compete with that because of a Hannah Montana game and Themed PSP?
I think Southpark got it right sometime last year during the Brittney Spearks episode that Hannah Montana will be the next public sacrifice for a good harvest.
Seriously, I'll enjoy watching that meltdown, it's already starting.
Holy crap, Hannah Montana. She's infecting everything.
i will consider sony products attractive as soon as they replace Memory Sticks with SDHC.

I use a SD-micro to Memory Stick adapter with my PSP and it works like a charm. 4GB SD for $10 is much better than 4GB for $20 as it is with Memory Stick Duos. The adapter was a whopping $3.75.
