Leaked: Specs for Google's Upcoming Nexus Prime
Nothing like a last-minute leak to jack up the anticipation.
The event is just hours away, and we're getting all worked up about the impending launch of the Samsung Nexus Prime, the next handset in Google's snazzy line of own-brand smartphones. Keeping us on our toes and ensuring we're all whipped into an adequate frenzy are the specs for this device, which have just been leaked, courtesy of Japanese wireless carrier NTT DoCoMo.
We had heard that the Nexus Prime would pack a 4.65-inch, 1280x720 pixels screen, a 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU along with the same dual-core PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU that's found in the iPad 2, an 8-megapixel camera, and a 2050mAh battery. Those are some pretty juicy specs for a cell phone. So what does NTT DoCoMo say? Something a little different. According to the carrier, what we're going to get with the Nexus Prime is as follows (via Android Central):
- A dual-core TI OMAP 4460 ARM Cortex-A9 CPU clocked to 1.2Ghz
- PowerVR SGX 540 GPU
- 1GB of RAM
- Uo to 32GB of ROM
- A 4.65-inch (720 x 1280) AMOLED HD display
- A 5-megapixel camera in the back
- A 1.3-megapixel camera in the front for video conferencing
- GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 3.0, MicroUSB 2.0, WiFi, Tethering
- A 1750mAh battery
- Support for the following networks (depending on carrier): W-CDMA; GSM; LTE, CDMA2000; HSPA; EDGE, GPRS; LTE; EV-DO
So they might not match up to the glorious specs we first heard last month, but they're nothing to turn your nose up at, either. NTT DoCoMo also revealed that the Nexus Prime will be available from November 20. Also have a look at this potentially real print ad from Ameblo:

tegra3 or bust for me.
Only 5-megapixel camera!! $299.99? what a croc ripoff. This is so 10 years ago. iPhone had 5MP 2 years ago. Only 32GB of ROM and then I have to buy my own?? And they copied Apple for the GPU. Only droid-bots would buy this steaming pile of sh*t. Do I should like droid-hater yet??? :-)
Needs a better CPU, GPU and Camera at back. Not good enough compared to current top end smartphones. GPU is last generation, Galaxy S II HD has 1.5Ghz and 8MP Camera.
Quad Core + SGX543MP4, 1.5GB of RAM and 10MP camera would be ideal. XD
I do not plan on getting the newest Nexus. In fact, I do not plan on getting any kind of new device this year or next year.
Thank god they ditched nVidia tegra. It was very incapable for sure. Anyway screen is too big.

You do realize that the T-mobile GS2 has a larger screen which in turn eats up more CPU cycles? It's 1.5ghz cpu does not match the speed of it's 1.2ghz (smaller screened) variants.
These specs were leaked two weeks ago and were confirmed likely wrong...
If going by yet another "leak" other than the screen it's below or inline with galaxy II as far as specs go. Not impressive. But will wait until official specs are posted.
What's up with all the attention on the Nexus Prime? I'm ready for some articles about the iPhone!

Only 5-megapixel camera!!
There is more to photo quality then consumer friendly "megapixels".

fail.
Google must be run by Steve Jobs twin brother.
As long as it is less than $500 off contract
I am just going to hope this "Leak" is terribly wrong and stick with hoping for the previous "Leak".

this photo was taken with an iPhone.
Well, it's not quite revolutionary, but I would love to have an Ice Cream Sandwich phone. Oh well, looking forward to the Galaxy S III
I am so sick of people b*tching about Megapixel count. It means nothing. The quality resides in the sensor itself and the lens used to take the picture. I can take a picture at 2MP with my Canon EOS 600D and one with my Desire HD at 8MP and the one from the DSLR would still be MILES ahead in terms of quality at any zoom level. And on top of this, by the time resize a photo taken in 8MP down to a viewable size to be posted online somewhere, it'd still look the same if you just took it at 5 or less and just posted it online without resizing.
The disappointing points about this phone is that its just a 1.2Ghz Dual Core, not the original 1.5Ghz I was hoping for, and the 1750mAh Battery instead of the 2050 one we heard, and lastly the downsized GPU =(
So pretty much a slightly beefed up Galaxy S2 with a larger capacity Battery and higher DPI screen.

it must be that time of the month for this chick
Nexus is about the OS not the hardware.
Only 32GB of ROM and then I CAN BUY MORE IF I NEED. Be aware chick, that the iPhone 4s is @ the same price for the same memory amount, but guess what..... you can't expand it!!!!!!
If those are truly the specs then the Galaxy S 2 is a better phone. Not only does it have a better camera it has a way better GPU. The SGX 540 was the GPU in the Galaxy S.

The Galaxy S II HD has a 1.5GHz dual core CPU not a quad core. It also doesn't come with a SGX543MP4.
i dont think ill get this, just bought a smartphone, got a bargain, zte blade £109 custom firmware, runs at 800mhz,32gb sd card and android 2.3
might stick andriod 3.0 on it
may only be a single core but it's less than half the price of most smartphones, ill wait till next year and get whatever replaces the galaxy s2 next year (i mean most powerfull and good battery life)
Well, I was gonna upgrade but this is junk. I'll pass.
720P? 4.6' screen? AMOLED? 1.2GHz dual?
Nice. Spare me the higher clocks, I'll take the best efficiency & battery life.
OH KNOES, IT ONLY HAS 5 MEGAPIXIES! NOW I CAN'T MAKE MY BILLBOARD SIGN NEXT TO THE HIGHWAY!!!!!
The battery is whats bumming me out. 2050 sounded awesome
that just turned me off
i wanted the 2050 battery and 1.5 cpu ahh its just a rumor might as well wait for the phone to come out
32GB of ROM? Read-Only Memory?
wat.
iPhone 4S is still the daddy then.
