Today's the day folks. Microsoft has officially announced that the highly anticipated next iteration of its Zune PMP, the Zune HD has hit retail shelves.

Packing Nvidia's Tegra processor (with clock speeds of 600 MHz, putting it in line with the iPhone 3GS and new iPod Touch), the device is capable of playing HD video via the Zune Dock and boasts an OLED screen that measures a little over 3-inches. You've also got HD radio and the ability to purchase/rent HD content via the Zune marketplace. With a battery that promises up to 33 hours of music and 8.5 hours of video, the charge time for the Zune HD is 3 hours via your PC and 2 hours if you're using the AC adapter.

if the Tegra processor delivers the performance made by the claims, maybe this will be a very nice PMP... but when have devices ever lived up to the hype?

Well, I won't be able to pick one up now that they've decided to bail out of other markets :(

But you never know, the Zune HD may turn into a Boom HD!

I like what this device has to offer. Anyone know about where to get the other colors? Amazon still only has the platinum 32GB and black 16GB listed.

i thought the tegra was clocked at 800mhz -- --

or is it like the iphone/ipod touch's arm cortex a8? (833mhz clocked down to 600mhz?)

"Packing Nvidia's Tegra processor (with clock speeds of 600 MHz, putting it in line with the iPhone 3GS and new iPod Touch)"

what... are you saying that just because one of the processors in the zune has the same clock speed as one of the completely different types of processors in the touch, they must be the same???

the 3GS is a beast specs wise, still hope the zune is better! (not that i can buy one :( )

I love my original Zune. Hopefully sheep-le won't blacklist this one because they drank the i-KoolAid.
