Today's the day folks. Microsoft has officially announced that the highly anticipated next iteration of its Zune PMP, the Zune HD has hit retail shelves.
Packing Nvidia's Tegra processor (with clock speeds of 600 MHz, putting it in line with the iPhone 3GS and new iPod Touch), the device is capable of playing HD video via the Zune Dock and boasts an OLED screen that measures a little over 3-inches. You've also got HD radio and the ability to purchase/rent HD content via the Zune marketplace. With a battery that promises up to 33 hours of music and 8.5 hours of video, the charge time for the Zune HD is 3 hours via your PC and 2 hours if you're using the AC adapter.
If you've got 56 seconds to spare and want to check out the Zune HD in action, peep the promo vid above.

it looks promising hopefully apple with come up with better itouch and put a damn hd radio in it...
Cool.
if the Tegra processor delivers the performance made by the claims, maybe this will be a very nice PMP... but when have devices ever lived up to the hype?
Well, I won't be able to pick one up now that they've decided to bail out of other markets

"Battery
Music, up to 33 hours (wireless off); video, up to 8.5 hours2
Charge Time: Approximately 3 hours when connected to your PC; approximately 2 hours with A/C adapter"
NICE! Wondering the extra juice is because of the OLED screen, bigger battery, or that Nvidia's Tegra processor is more effiency? By the way... does Zune HD also use Li-polymer batter like iTouch/iPhone? Wondering how's the heat on the ZUne HD...
"Audio output:Analog Audio Out; Optical Digital Audio Out (requires additional dock, sold separately)
Video output:HDMI or Composite (requires additional dock, sold separately)"
Hmm.. does that mean we will need to pay extra money to actually make our ZuneHD "really" HD? Wondering how much is the dock?
"Radio:Built-in FM/HD Radioâ„¢ receiver5"
NICE!... but I guess now AM is offically out of picture...
Sounds like a nice product....but just wish I do not need to pay extra to go HD.
At least I don't walk around bearing in mind that I carry an iGrenade!
But you never know, the Zune HD may turn into a Boom HD!
I like what this device has to offer. Anyone know about where to get the other colors? Amazon still only has the platinum 32GB and black 16GB listed.
I like it. I suppose I'll go play with a demo at BestBuy
Hopefully it won't explode like a certain other overpriced mp3 portable device...
*cough* ijob *cough*
iJob haha
ok so why has nobody asked the most important question ever???? BUT CAN IT PLAY CRYSIS????
i thought the tegra was clocked at 800mhz -- --
or is it like the iphone/ipod touch's arm cortex a8? (833mhz clocked down to 600mhz?)
Where are they for sale? My Best Buy and Target still only have the old Zunes.

what... are you saying that just because one of the processors in the zune has the same clock speed as one of the completely different types of processors in the touch, they must be the same???
the 3GS is a beast specs wise, still hope the zune is better! (not that i can buy one
Nice battery life!
Processor speed is double that of a PSP!
Well, here's hoping that we won't see BSoD or RRoD in HD...
Droool. I need to buy this not only for being cool but also going against Apple and its users. hehe
I love my original Zune. Hopefully sheep-le won't blacklist this one because they drank the i-KoolAid.
