Sony Gets Hitched to LittleBigPlanet Creators
Sony has announced the purchase of LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule.
Media Molecule's first title, LittleBigPlanet, was a huge hit when it was released for PlayStation. The company was already operating as an exclusive developer for Sony and this week, the studio announced it had been acquired by the electronics giant.
Media Molecule announced the acquisition via its blog in a post that's just as cute, if not cuter, than the studio's first game. Titled, "We're Getting Married!" the post announces, "After a whirlwind romance, and one beautiful child together, we are immensely excited to announce our engagement to our long term best friend and life partner, Sony Computer Entertainment!" The team then linked to an official press release before embedding a version of Elton John's Chapel of Love, ripped from Four Weddings and a Funeral.
Sony is equally happy about the merger, despite being a little more restrained in displaying its excitement.
"Since they burst onto the gaming scene, Media Molecule have proved to be a truly exciting and innovative studio," said Shuhei Yoshia, the head of Sony's gaming unit. "To bring them into our family proves our dedication to creating fantastic new experiences that we believe will cement our position as industry leaders."

That was entertaining.
I've been meaning to play the game, but the lack of owning a PS3 has somewhat prevented me.
Dude you gotta get a PS3 if for this game alone.
Fantastic game! Good job on securing IP for the future, Sony.
I have the game and it's awesome. Media Molecule said they wouldn't release a LBP 2 on the PS3. My guess is Sony really wants an LBP2.
Another fantastic developer is absorbed and on the road to eventually being killed off years down the road after being manipulated into producing profits instead of good games. : o (
At least they'll have a decent PS3 exclusive title now. As in, a reason to get a PS3 over a 360.
Sony.... if you still can't get Left 4 Dead 3, you still fail
Well, that sucks. Another great developer bought up that will soon be forced into churning out an endless line of sequels.

Yea cause small companies that get absorbed into huge ones don't change, they stay the same and produce great games
Smart move. Just let my uncle borrow this game. I love LBP.
Tried the demo, didn't get hooked.
