Update Twitter, Facebook with QWERTY Remote

- By - Source : Tom's Guide US

This QWERTY remote controller for the PC is just too cool.

Lenovo is currently selling a multimedia remote that might actually entice consumers who otherwise hate wireless, battery-powered PC peripherals (mice, keyboards, etc). Although it doesn't have a snazzy name like The Typster, CouchTwitter, or anything remotely memorable, Lenovo's multimedia remote offers a smartphone-like QWERTY keyboard and trackball to make Twitter and Facebook updates via the cough a breeze.

On a feature level, Lenovo's multimedia remote doesn't offer anything explosive save for the two manual inputs. The device uses the 2.4 GHz radio frequency, and can be used just under 33 feet away from the PC. The keyboard itself features the infamous Windows button, meaning consumers can control all aspects of the PC from the living room couch or other comfy seating arrangements. This would be ideal for the PC Home theater where the video output is piped into a standard or HDTV.

On the OS level, Lenovo's multimedia remote is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and the new Windows 7. The device isn't cheap: Lenovo is selling the multimedia remote here for $60.

I wonder why the Windows button is infamous though.

I'm fond of the windows button. Win + L, Win + D are two shortcuts I couldn't live without.

Also, a useful peripheral if your PC is a multimedia centre.

$60 for half a cell phone?? Couldn't they make a cell phone with option to connect to my pc to update Twitter/Facebook?

Just another gadget that will eventually get unused and missplaced.

I already have a twitter/facebook/myspace remote. It's called the iPhone. Lenovo's remote has to be the dumbest product ever invented.
