The HP Pavilion dv2 is a low-cost ultraportable. Boasting better performance than a netbook, it’s aimed at users who want a more complete, multi-use computer with a larger display, yet don’t want to carry a heavy machine around.
First impressions, design
Our test computer’s color, “White Moonlight,” is in fact a satin-finish, slightly glossy white. The dv2-1120ef is elegant-looking, without the unpleasantly flashy quality you sometimes see. It’s a welcome change from mirror-finish plastic. The notebook is nicely finished overall.
The keyboard has a nice, supple feel. The keys are normal size, with a few exceptions. In actual typing, it works quite well.
The touchpad is wide. You’d have expected to see it on a 16:9-format display, but it also suits the dv2’s display. The surface is smooth, with a mirror finish, and scrolling doesn’t work well. Your finger sticks and it’s hard to be precise. The click buttons are well integrated and have a quality feel. Finally, there’s a button for disabling the touchpad if you need to. This feature comes in handy to avoid mistakes while typing on the keyboard, or when you want to use the mouse alone and not have to worry about the touchpad.
The dv2-1120ef’sVGA Webcam is only average. It lacks sharpness and the colors are too saturated. Due to technical difficulties, we don’t have an image to show you the kind of results it gets. But they were quite close to the image we got with the Webcam in the dv6-1225ef.
The dv2-1120ef was fairly quiet when running office applications, with a slight whoosh audible from the left side of the machine. But it’s much noisier when you start using it for other tasks (music or video, for example).
The connectors are located on the edges of the case, on the right and left. There are 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 HDMI, 1 VGA, 1 RJ45, 1 headphone jack, 1 microphone jack, and a 5-in-1 memory-card reader. Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth are also present.
The HP Pavilion dv2-1120ef comes with an external DVD burner. Available only in black, it connects via a USB port. It comes in very handy for installing software or backing up documents.

What I meant to say, before the site automatically posted my message when I merely logged in:
HP dv2 - $650 15" MacBook Pro - $1580 - $2100 on the site I looked on. I bet HP could have included a better battery for a THOUSAND BUCKS, including a faster processor, better graphics, etc.
I don't get why this site always uses inappropriate references. I'm not saying HP is the best thing since sliced bread. They're the Ford / GM of PC makers. Would you compare a Ford to a BMW?

I guess I would compare a ford to a bmw if I was interested in what parts create the difference between the low end and the high end. They aren't in the same class--that's a given--but the vast difference in performance is still something to remind yourself of, as a tech enthusiast. That said, this article should've also made comparison to machines it its same class, so good point.
