HTC EVO 4G Breaks Sprint Sales Records
The world and it's mother might be talking about the new iPhone, but there's another revolutionary phone hitting the market right now and it's breaking records.
The HTC EVO 4G just launched on Sprint and the device is already breaking records. Apparently the attraction of the first 4G handset was strong enough to break Sprint's first day sales records.
Packing Android 2.1, the highly anticipated device is the world's first 4G handset. The smartphone broke records and achieved the title of "Best Ever First Day Sales" at Sprint. The previous record holder was the Palm Pre (last year) and before that was the Samsung Instinct.
Aside from 2.1, the EVO 4G boasts a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a4.3-inch (480x800) TFT LCD, an 8-megapixel camera that comes with a flash and is capable of shooting 720p video, a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, 802.11b/g, and an 8GB microSD card.

Death to iPhone!
Pretty sad that most places in the US don't have access to 4G!
1st to Comment? I WANT ONE!!! But I have T-Mobile, and for readons I won't go into, I have to stay with them.

No no no your getting ahead of yourself: Most places in the US don't even have access to 3G yet.
I WANT ONE! But, I have T-Mobile. So I'm stuck with the HTC HD2. Same phone, only better
: 4G, 8 mega-pixel vs 5 for HD2; 1.3 front camera vs none on HD2, ANDROID Based vs Windows based. Shall I go on? I'm Just a big cry baby....

Still cheaper than Verizon and ATT-Free mobile-to-mobile for the win. I pay 150/month for TWO phones WITH unlimited data and WiMax, I believe thats how much one Verizon unlimited data/talk plan is.
Friend of mine picked one of these up. The screen is be-a-utiful (large, high res, nice color depth). It looks huge in person, but when I compare it to my Window Mobile 6.1 clunker (Motorola Q Global), it is practically the _same_ size.
Love my Evo. Did a new iPhone come out?
4G is in several cities. And another round of rollouts is coming soon. The 3G is VERY fast too. This phone is beyond Incredible. Android rocks. But it won't matter to the Apple lemmings. Nothing can beat any Apple with their Fischer Price gadget experience.
This phone is also HUGE! I don't think I could see myself carrying one. I guess if you have a holster but i like to slip mine in my pocket. Awesome specs otherwise. Plus, it isn't hard to beat a Palm device in number of sales. Also, seems funny they didn't mention what the figure was.
I'm attempting to get one before my 30 day trial on my Moment is up, fingers crossed. 2 weeks or so, and hoping they re-stock very quickly....
Honestly though, battery is kinda weak. I've already ordered a Seidio 1750mAh because I couldnt wait for the 3500mAh. That's my only complaint about the Evo. Once I have a good battery (and Froyo layered with HTC Sense rooted) this is going to be the phone of all phones.
I have 4G in my area and the coverage sucks. That and 4G is almost useless unless you have your phone charging cause it kills the battery. With that being said, I love my EVO. It is sooo snappy and fun to use. Even on 3G it flys surfing the web. Don't let the lack of 4G put you off on this phone. Everything else works wonderful on it.
My dad got the phone and he loves it. Sadly, I couldn't get it because I recently bought a HTC hero.

It's still cheaper than AT&T, so I don't see your point.
Death to iPhone!
Loserville!!! Iphone 4 FTW.

Better than your android crap anyday! The 3 people that actually have 4G are crying now with the EVO cause with it turned on they get only 2 hours of batter life! LOL

Keep providing solid evidence to reinforce those apple user stereotypes!!!!
I got mines!!! Very happy.
death to iphone? %#$*# IDIOT. now that the true specs are out im even more excited. cant wait to upgrade!
"I just returned my Evo and went back to my Pre since the Evo's battery life was abysmal. I loved it when it was on but the fact that it had to be plugged in all day kind of defeats the purpose of a cell phone! "
LOL SPRINT FAIL !!!
Keep providing solid evidence to reinforce those apple user stereotypes!!!!
Keep providing me with endless amounts of laughter to your irrelevant postings crawl back under your Failed EVO Bandwagon rock!
Hmmmm.....Palm Pre Sales set a Sprint Sales Record ..... well we know how that turned out in the end.

HTC evo have HDMI port ?? so good feature
Sprint Sucks. Being monitored is great! Unless you're into that don't buy sprint.
I WAS going to get until sprint told me that my contract expires in 4 months and I am not eligible for FULL discounts yet which means I would pay some 475-500$ for it. At which point I said F U, and decided that I will not extend my contract with them. It seems a rare occurrence to get it at the advertised 199$.
so... how many did it sell?

So your trying to compare the palm pre to the htc evo? Two different phones with two different os with two different companies with different business plans? Im sorry but thats the most retarded post of the day for me. Me and my wife have them and the phone is on so many differnt levels than even the iphone that hasnt even came out yet. Unless you have the phone, you shouldnt comment period. Im not in a Maybach fourm saying how stupid the car is and its such a failure.
Got two of them! Love them! (one is for GF, I'm not THAT greedy). While I don't have 4G where I live, I'm not far from Philly which does have 4G... When I get around there, I will be able to check that part out too. The phone is AWESOME.
Oh, and I got both at the as-advertised reduced price.
The Evo has rocked my world. I love it! 4G is pretty badass as well. Didn't even realize my city would have 4G until about a week before the phone came out. A pleasant surprise
